When choosing hearing aids that are not custom and fit deep into the ear canal I question the occlusion effect. One thing I don't see addressed with the Ihear is venting. Venting is very important feature when it comes to fitting hearing aids. Without proper venting, sound pressure can build up within the ear canal causing sounds to be heard boomy and too loud. Also the occlusion effect can be horrible without proper venting. Thats the feeling of being plugged up like having a cold. When choosing your next hearing aid look at the open ear micro BTE's that have been introduced to the market. The venting is very large which allows the hearing instrument not to mess with the the natural resonance of the ear canal. Accutone's iHear Personal Listening Device Hi! This is Andy with EarMall.com and in this video I'm going to show you how to properly care for your Accutone iHear, which is available exclusively at EarMall.com. The iHear comes in two colors, red and blue, red is for your right ear, blue is for your left ear. Everyday before you put your iHear in or after you take it out at night, you just want to brush it off really good and make sure it's clean, get all the wax off of it. If there is any wax down in that little hole, just try and get it out as best as you can. If it's at the end of the day, you want to open your battery door up and just let it set on your dresser or nightstand or wherever you're going keep it. Opening that battery door will keep that battery from draining overnight and it will allow moisture escape from your iHear. The iHear takes a Size 10 battery, which is yellow, you just want to open that battery door. If you have to force it a little bit, that's okay, your battery will have a yellow sticker on the back, peel your yellow sticker off when you're ready to use it. The better you'll have a nice beveled side and a nice flat side and that battery will fit down into that battery door, there will be a little seat for that beveled side to push up against and that battery will shut nice and easily into the iHear. If you put the battery in backwards, the battery door will not shut. So please be careful. It's just like a normal hearing aid as far as maintenance and taking care of putting your batteries in. The iHears come with a sleeve in case they don't fit in your ear, you have a large, medium and a small to accommodate anyone's ear. Some people won't even need the sleeve, for instance, it fits perfectly in my ear without it, and there you go. That's Accutone's iHear available exclusively at EarMall.com.
