How a DJ Chooses Songs
On behalf of TVlesson.com my name is Eric Roman, otherwise known as DJ Empire.
Let’s talk a little bit about DJs and songs selection. I’ve been too many night clubs were DJs only played the top 40 hits. And that can get a little annoying seeing that’s why you hear on the radio and a DJ does need to be creative and should be try manipulate music to continue the artistic form of it. DJs, when I first started I’ve meet a lot of DJs that only played underground music. I want to take that to another level by taking the under ground music and playing with the top 40 music. So, when you go out and choice your gigs don’t be afraid to experiment with song selections.
I remember when I first started. I had the biggest names in music at the time and continue to empty my dance floor and I couldn’t figure out why. Finally, I started through in some underground music, some remixes and just using samples to move a dance floor and worked more because there was a break between the popular songs and underground songs. So, when you choosing your music keep in mind that it’s okay to experiment. It’s okay to go out and maybe be a ground breaking DJ and bringing a new form of music into a night club to change the styles that you play and also keeps you fresh when you’re constantly looking for something new to do.
If you’re copying other DJs and playing what on the radio, you become of photo copy of everybody else. You want to set your self apart from the crowd and make yourself unique. And the way you that is by choosing new songs and old songs top 40 songs with underground songs. It doesn’t matter what it is. As long as you feel a groove and you feel you’re accomplishing a creative point in your eyes. You will definitely become more known for the pushing the enveloped and your crowds might appreciate that more as you continue through your career. So, don’t be afraid to every push you’re envelop to always be creative and make sure you’re choosing songs that you enjoy.
