This was left over from fantasy camp in Las Vegas, so I would like you sit back and think about for a second, the art of making love and since it's more guys in the room than girls, we are probably done. So how many of you actually thought about making love, communicating with the other person, being there for the other person, letting the other person be therefore you, it's far more than the act. The act, the act to making love, if you haven't been doing only other stuff, the act to making love is probably going to be a quickie, you are not that satisfied, but if you have been doing all the other stuff than the actual act to making love is probably going to be a very fulfilling experience, it's far more than the act.
The art of making love is the fulfillment of the entire relationship, so if that's true then the art of racing is more than the race. It's coming to fantasy camps, it's your diet, it's your physical training, it's your bike riding, swimming, running, it’s the technical skills you learn, it's all the mental preparation that you put in and if that's true, there is no need for race the anxiety, is there? Each of us is going to perform differently and different sports need different arousal rates.
Football players usually have real high arousal rates, more assertive, aggressive kinds of sports. So some people like to be aroused, in which case, you need a race day routine that's going to give you that arousal, and some people like to be relaxed because when you are relaxed, you have a full compliment of your muscles to be there for you and you might perform better. You need to know what's right for you, I am not going to say one is better then the other. For me, I always perform better in a relaxed state.
Activation for me gets my system rocking and rolling, so these vibrations going on inside and I feel like I and you only have this many energy units and if I am draining energy units in activation and this is my system, if I am draining energy in it's activation, I am a rocket scientist, I am loosing energy units. I don’t want to loose energy units, and so I want to be relaxed. So I go for relaxation, you want an arousal state. The music, if you listen the music, the music you might pick might be the music I pick before going skiing. I am not putting on some Flody classical music before I go skiing although sometimes I might. I want to hear Tina Turner. I want to Tina Turner rocking and rolling in my head and I have go a rhythm for my turns and that's important to me.
Now, when I would go down to have a meeting with professional sports team and I have Eddy James on my radio and I am getting juiced that I am going no, no, no. Dilute down this is, there is going to be too many big shots here. You want to be relaxed or I put, I go through the CDs and find Lionel Hampton because that brings me into a relaxed state. So I am going to get my environment to help me use external resources to help me get into the state I want to be in.
Come race state; there is no need for anxiety. You have done all your training, you have done all your diet, you have done everything you could possibly do and so when you are in the water at the start of the swim, you are done, I don't mean you done with your training, you can train more if you recover for the next race but as far as that race is concerned, you have done. All you have to do is be in your race day state, and race.
Don’t waste energies on the anxiety of what if, will I, might I, what if. That's not being proactive, that's being reactive, so save your energies for proactive positions. This is my power pyramid and for me everything works of this power pyramid. So we have of we have, our innate physical talent. I am never going to dunk at basketball. I never was going to dunk at basketball, not in my high -- not with my jumping ability or inability. We have genetic predispositions. We can maximize our innate physical talents by how we train and all the various aspects of that and our goal, if we are going to be athletic, is to maximize these innate skills that we have.
