Molly: I am here to tell you with just a little bit about achieving the cottage look.
So the first thing I would say if you want to achieve a cottage look is to picture yourself as a child. Picture yourself somewhere on vacation that you can remember where you have childhood memories of feeling time was endless. And that is what you want to create. So, it is a feeling that you want to keep as your goal.
So some of the ways that we do that, some people picture that in the mountains, some people picture that at the seashore. So you can just do that anyway that works for you, but some other things are really great to achieve a cottage look is number one—that it is very light.
So, where are your light sources, open windows with a breeze making sure that they are not heavy curtains—that the sun comes in candlelight at night—these are all very, very good for a cottage looks.
Another thing that is particularly wonderful for cottage look are: beautiful cozy linens, this is an antique chenille spread, I think everybody can probably remember having taking a nap and have a print on their face because it laid on top of their bed and that is one of the things about a cottage look—lots of great places to read a book, take a nap and be able to check out a little bit.
I think another thing that is always wonderful on the cottage look is a few antiques, whether it is an antique picture that you can then pick flowers and put flowers in or just a little spot to set a glass of lemonade or anything like that. And of course fresh flowers are always an important thing in a cottage look.
There are many, many ways to get more specific on this which would be boride, un-walls, open-shelves in the kitchen, like I said before, candlelight, a little chandeliers, French doors so that it is easy to get outside, but I think that the main thing is, for me what I like in a room that is just the best, is a lamp no matter way you sit so that you can always put your feet up and read and have to set a cup of tea.
Sunlight streaming in or candlelight at night and nice groupings of furniture, so, you can really visit your friends.
So, those are some of my tips for creating a cottage look.
