Today, I just want to show you how you can enhance your photos and make them bright and vibrant in the magazine covers because most magazine covers that you see have a very bright and beautiful picture in them. And as you can see here, what I have up is I have my inspiration which is this Seventeen Magazine cover right here. I have my photo that I'm going to add to my princess layout and I have my template.
Okay, the first thing I'm going to do is I'm going to go ahead and click on my move tool and I'm going to drag my photo into my layout. And here it is, I forgot to put it in the bottom so I going to do control in my left bracket and I'm just going to move it down to the bottom. Okay, it’s right underneath your photo here.
Okay now, I need to size this and sometimes it’s easier if you zoom out. So I wanted to take up a lot because magazine covers generally do take up a lot of times. They're really focused on the person. As you can see with my inspiration, the picture is very big so that’s what I'm going to do. And then I'm going to go ahead and zoom in so that we can see what we’re working on here. Now, we just want to make this bright. So there are two simple things that you can do right off the back to make it jump out and that is to bring—let’s move this all the way so we can see what we’re doing here. This is how it looked originally and it’s a little bit faded. The sun was up but it was cloudy that day. We’re just going to bring this up. And here’s my inspiration piece, and we just want it to be brighter.
So I'm going to put a lot of—make sure that her purple shirt is very vibrant and then I'm going to click okay.
And then the next thing I like to do is I like to come into brightness and contrast and I like to add a little bit of contrast. And that alone just makes it look so much more vibrant than the original picture. You could stop right there or you can do other things. You can fix any flaws with the skin or any other thing you want to do. But those two steps increasing the saturation and the contrast are my two favorite things to do to photos to make them look nice.
But while I'm here I'm just going to go ahead and customize this a little bit because I love this pink here. So I'm just going to go ahead and do this quickly without explaining a lot what I'm doing and you can just see and rewind it if you need to. Just to make that look a little bit like my inspiration piece, coming over here to my type tool. And I'm just going to click on this color and I can change her name if I want to. Highlight it and then change her name. I can change this little part of her here sometimes you have to get—you can change this to say whatever you want. You can change the top all these elements are changeable.
Whatever personality, things that you want to put in here or you can make it into like Princess Invitation and you can change this to all the information about the party. So there's a lot you can do with it and I just wanted to show you how you can brighten up these photos for any magazine cover.
