Hi, okay this is not a quick video from blogtactics.com on how to add AdSense Adverts to your blog. This video along with all the other ones that I have done including the different ways of AdSense to your blog are all listed here on the blog tactics videos page.
We will send some plug-ins and some themes. So this particular video, what we are going to do is add some AdSense adds on the head image on the blog. Okay, the last one we looked at how to add some ads in the sidebar. This one, we are going use different blog called sinem.com and we are going to add some Adverts on to this image here, okay.
So all you need to do is login to that admin area of your blog and you need to go to presentation theme editor. Then you need to look trough this list here on the right for the one that says header. And that will then bring up some code here in the left. Now what you are going to look for is the actual image—the link for the image that appears in the header, okay. Now on this blog, we can see that we have got the title. Then, we got some links and the RSS link. Then we got the head area.
So, if I look trough this code, we will see that we got some standard stuff for the start. Then we got the head area—the blog info, etcetera. Then we got start sheet info, if we scroll down, we got some links info. Here is the RSS feed link. Okay, if we scroll further down, we will find that we have something for the image.
Now on this particular blog theme, the image, there are four or five different versions because you can have different images appearing on different pages. So I know that I got to search through header two, header three, header four, header five. On yours, it will probably just be one image header. It may be different form in here, maybe header, but you are looking for something with jpg or .gif at the end. And it is after the close bracket for that bit of code where you want to import your code for the Google AdSense Adverts.
Now really, really important here, take a copy of all these code in here. Paste it into a secret text pad, so that if you make any mistakes, you can come back and restore the original code and you know you can get your blog back up and running if you make a mistake. Because it may take you playing around a few times to get it just right, okay.
Okay, so the other part you need is obviously, the Google AdSense code which I have got here. I am not going to show you how to grab that. You just log on to AdSense account. There are tutorial videos showing you how to get it. The one you are interested in is the leader board style because that sort of wide move it nicely on that graphic, so I am going to copy that and I am going to where I want to paste it in. Choose paste and then it goes.
Alright, you put a fake AdSense publisher ID in here, so before I click on update. I am going to make that my real one that was the other one using mine. So I am just going to quickly, pause the video while I change that to real one and click on update then I will come back.
Okay once it is updated, it should say “File edited successfully” and then you can go back to the actual site and refresh it and see the Adverts which is what we will do, okay. So let us bring up the site, at the moment you can see there are no Adverts there. If I click on refresh, it may take a moment too, my internet connection is running slow today for some reason.
So there we go, bingo. We have some Adverts appearing. Very quick and easy, now they are not particularly well targeted at the moment. But the Google spy, they will pop around and have a look at the site and work out some that do fit in with my site. If someone that click on one of those Adverts, I will make some money.
Okay, so that is how to add the lead to board style Advert unto your header image on your blog. This video along with all the other AdSense videos I have done for bloging—all of them on blogtactics.com on the videos page.
Thanks very much. Hope you find it useful.
