Hi! Okay, this is another quick-look tactics blogging video. This video is going to be about how to add AdSense to your blog. How much you can do three or four different videos covering how to add AdSense because there is different ways in which you can do it. We are going to split them up into separate videos just to keep them quick and short and easy to follow, okay?
So you can find these videos on BlogTactics.com, just go to the video’s page and there will be an amongst all videos here, okay?
Now, the first blog we are going to work with is called SigK.com. It is just one of my funny blogs. And what we are going to do with this one is we are going to put some AdSense ads in this area here, okay?
There are different areas we can AdSense ads. We can put them in the side bar. We can put them in the header area or right at the bottom in the footer area or we can put them inside posts. And, I am going to do videos covering each of those. But this one specifically, how to put some AdSense ads in here.
So you need to log on to your AdSense account and get the AdSense code for the adbots. I am not going to show you how to do that but it is covered by videos on Google AdSense themselves. And a very detail to show you exactly how to get your code. So once you got your code, which will look something like this, the one I am after here is that one. The title which is actually called Skyscraper. So that is a bit of code that I am going to be using.
I want you need to do is log on to my blog and there are different ways you can set it up depending on the theme of your blog. Some blog’s themes you will have what is called widgets. That widgets you do it in an entirely different way a lot easier way, okay? Now this separate video is to cover that.
But this is for where you have a theme that does not include the option to use widgets. So what we actually need to do in that case is go to the Presentation Theme Editor option and then the list of items down here on the right-hand side, there will be one that says Sidebar, which is this. As it happens, I have already got that up.
Then what we need to do is go through this to find where we want to include the bit of AdSense code for the ads in this particular sidebar. Now in this case, I said that I am going to put it after the search and before the archives, okay. You could put it further down, you could put it before the calendar or before the links. You decide where you feel it is going to be best. Obviously, to further up, generally, the more it is going to be seen the more adbots will get click on, the more money you will make.
So, what I want to do is look for the code for the search bar and the archives and put it in between that. Now if we look here, we can see straight a way. Search from docPHP, so that is the search bar there. Then we have – under that we have author, which is not used and then we have archive down there.
Now, what I actually want to do, you can see that this off a bit is not used because this bit here and this bit here is basically commenting that which does not appear. I could actually delete that entirely, okay?
One of the things that I would say is copy all of the code in here and paste into a separate text had so you got a back up in case you make any mistakes. That way, you can always copy and paste it back in and get back to what you originally have, okay, which is always you have got.
So anyway, I am going to replace this off a bit here. So all you need to is go and grab my AdSense code, which is all up bit there and copy it and go back, highlight a bit. I am going to replace which is that there and paste it. So now, I got my AdSense adbot code in there, okay? You can see all that there. Then all you need to do is click on update file and it will update that for me, okay?
Now I let you put a fake number in here, because I do not want you to see my AdSense publisher ID. So I am going to quickly change that and click on update. But I am going to post the video while they do it so you do not see my AdSense ID. I will be back in a moment.
Okay, is that saves successfully? Let us say, all I did was click on the update file option down there. It updated it, it told me it saves successfully. Now I can go back to the main view of the blog. This is the version we are looking at a minute ago. If I know, hit Refresh. We should, once it refreshes, get some adbots up here, just in the side here. It just takes a moment to refresh the page, come on. Here we go, quickly hit refresh again. It went to that connection oversee going slow.
But here we go, we now got some adbots in there that are relevant to this blog because it is about funny jokes and stuff like that. Say, cartoons, funny, etcetera. And if someone there click some one of those adbots, I will make some money.
So that is how to ad the AdSense ads into your sidebar in a word press theme that does not have widgets. As I said, this video will be on BlogTactics.com, on the video’s page.
