Hi, okay this is a quick video from blogtactics.com on how to add AdSense Adverts on to your blog in the side bar area of your blog. This video along with the other AdSense videos I have done will be on blogtactics on the videos page along here with all the other videos I have done.
I am doing a few different videos on how to add AdSense because you can add them in different places on your blog. Let us go and have a look at where we previously added them. The last video I did, we added some Adverts in the side bar and we did it on word press theme that did not have widgets.
I am going to do another video on how to add them in the header area in the post themselves, but this is going to show how to actually add the ads in the sidebar when you have a theme that is widget enabled. I am going to use a different blog, this one is called keyoff.com and it is just about puppies and dogs.
What we are going to do is we are going to put the AdSense adds in between a recent port widget, and a deal of the day widget. All we need to do is log on to the blog, to the admin area. Go to presentation widgets and you will get a menu of something like this, it may looks slight different but it should be very similar.
Now what we are going to use is a text widget like these two here, if I scroll down to the bottom, we will see that we do not at the moment have anymore text widgets available because I have used first two. What we need to do, first of all, is go down here to text widgets and say write create four, in total, that will give us another two to play with. We only need one, but why not create another one at the same time.
So that is now updated, if I go down, we will have text three and text four. I am going to grab text three and I am going to move it up trough the sidebar menus to where I want it, which as I said is between the recent post in the deal of the day, so that is where I want it to appear.
Now I need to edit it, so to edit it you click on this button here which says ‘configure’ and it brings up another box where you can actually put in the AdSense code. Now you will need to have your AdSense code available. This we get from Google AdSense it self. I am not going to show you how to do that. Google AdSense have some very good tutorials to show you how to and it is not that difficult, but you do need is this code. So grab it, copy it then go back to your blog, paste that into the text widget.
You can also give that widget a title if you want to. I am going to call it sponsors and then simply click on this icon here to close it and it will actually save that in there for you. To save the changes you have made, you need to click on this save changes button here, so click on that. My internet is running slow, so I am going to pause while this updates because it is slow.
Oh! It has fed up, there we go. Okay, so that is now updated. We can now go back to the website itself, and you can see that the Adverts are not appearing yet. What I need to do is hit refresh and that refreshes—will it run a quicker again this time? No, it is gone back to being slow. I will pause while this refreshes.
As I said that my internet is running slow, just took moment or two to refresh. We now have our Adverts there. At the moment I am picking up some public service Adverts, basically the freebee Adverts which up here when Google does not know what to put on your site yet.
At some point over the next few minutes Google will send a little speed write to have a look at my site, work out what it is about and find some relevant Adverts to add in here. Hopefully it will popup about this Adverts about puppy training, dog training, things like that.
When some clicks on these Adverts, we will then make some money. It is a lot easier to add Google AdSense for any type of advert to your blog if you have a widget enabled theme. These widgets make life a lot easier, so you should always try and choose a theme for your blog that is widget enabled. This video will appear on blogtactics.com under the videos page. There will also be shortly some free themes for you here, which guess what, they will be widgets enabled to make life easy.
Okay, thanks very much for watching!
