How to Add Highlight Stitches in Cross Stitch Hi, I’m Jannette. We’re near in completion of our little project here. One of the things that I want to do is to give a little definition to the center. We’ve completed the center yellow section here, the same way as you did as the diagonals and the blue and there was also a small center in here of the light blue that has done exactly the way these are done. Now, I’m going to add a little definition to the center because the yellow seems to be fading away. So, I’m going to take a little light blue which is color 813 and I’m going to take a single strand and I’m going to pull it out one at a time, the same way as I did to the others. And I’m going to thread my needle and then I’m going to add a little backstitch just to give it a little more definition. Don’t be afraid to take projects and edge your own embellishment to your own definition to them. Once you’ve started the project, it is yours. It's not the person who decides it, it is your project. So take a little time and make it the way you wanted to be. I’m going to come into the back and I will use my little floats to hide my threads. I’m going to come up in the middle between these two stitches that are at the top and I’m going to go to my right and go back in the same hole that is the tough one there. Then I’m going to come over to my left over here and I’m coming up again and I will go back down in the middle hole. I want to give a smooth line so I’m not going to go around the edge of this where it would zigzag. I’m going to go diagonally across these lines right here. You can see the definition beginning to form. This is kind of share with one of the diagonal stitches that we could put in earlier. I will lie down right next to it but it just outlined out center box, just a little bit. Okay, you can see it beginning to develop here and now, we’re going to come up between these two vertical stitches and we’ll go back to the top, come down to the bottom and continue on around the piece. When we come back, I will show you how to wash your piece and press it and prepare for framing.
