Alright, we've got anther kitchen desperately in need of a makeover. I tell you they are all over America and we are tackling them one at a time. This next kitchen is Chad's in San Antonio, Texas. He writes, "My kitchen is way too white, how would you suggest I give it some life? Also any ideas for including environmentally friendly green items into the room?"
Well Chad, you're not kidding. This is got to be the whitest kitchen I've ever seen. And if it's too much white for your taste, that's the most important thing because your kitchen is all about your taste and your style. We need to make it reflect that.
Now you've got white appliance now, and they look pretty good. So if you want to keep those, cool; just bring color in and some of the other element. If you want to change them out, go for the one's that have the energy star rating. Those are going to be eco-friendly and maybe stainless steel appliances. Those can give your space a nice sleek pop and take you away from so much white color.
Think about going with the bright color for your wall. You name it, we've done it and every time we add color to a space for the walls, we really, really increase the energy and the light of the kitchen and you can do the same thing. It'll make a huge impact on your space without making a huge impact on your budget.
Another way you can get away from the white, you could paint your cabinets like we did these blues, gray cabinet. If you're not in the painting cabinets, think about maybe changing the cabinets out completely to say, wood cabinets. They add warmth and color to a space.
If you want to do an eco-friendly variation, think about bamboo. It may came out great, not only beautiful but eco-friendly. I also think that countertop can be a great way to add an eco-friendly materials into your space. Take a look at this particular countertop. They are made out of recycled, soda bottles and water bottles, believe it or not. And aren't they beautiful?
Now if you want to change out your flooring, I have got some cool ideas and also environmentally friendly. Now first, I'll consider a marmoleum floor, that's like the new linoleum and it's made of tons of ecologically friendly material and you can get tons of colors in them. If not that, maybe a cork floor; it added a lot of texture and character, there you do it yourself.
No matter what you end up doing to your space. Just make sure you just bring some color in, that's my number one suggestion. It'll be so unique and your space will be popping. Alright Chad, thanks for your question and remember to keep them coming in because I am here to help, see you.
