If you’d like to add text to an image or canvas, you can do so by using the Text Tool. The Text Tool is located near the bottom half of your Photoshop toolbox and that’s marked with a T. You can click on the lower corner and you have several options here and we’ll be talking about the horizontal type tool and the vertical type tool. The difference between the two is simply, for the first one, your text will run horizontal across the screen and for the second one, it will run vertical. Let me go ahead and pick the horizontal tool. And you’ll see up here I have my tool, my text toolbar and I can make a couple different options this way. I'm going to go ahead and change my font and I get a drop down of my font. You can see that over to the right, there’s a sample of the different fonts. I also can choose, and I picked the special italic one, but if I chose a normal font, then I would go ahead and I would get some options over to the right depending on what font that I choose like here. And I can also set the size, and I can choose to have it sharp, crisp, strong or smooth which is basically just the texture of the outline of your letter so you can have it be sharp, have it be crisp, strong or smooth and it’s basically just whichever one do you prefer. I can choose to align my text to have it left, center or right.
And I can also click on here and I could change the color of my text and I can use the custom box to choose whatever color I want to. And I can also enter my hex number down here or use only web color. So once I have that chosen, go ahead and click OK and I'm going to go ahead and click on my document and let’s zoom in a little bit and go head and type, move it over. Okay and there I have one head and I have added some text to my Photoshop image or, in this case my blank canvas.
