Hey guys. This is Anthony Montalbano here with internetriot.com. And today’s site I have for you is youtube.com. Now I know that—I am sure everybody right now has heard of YouTube, has used YouTube in one way or another, either to view videos or to upload videos.
Well I want to show you something that you can do with YouTube that you may be or may be not be aware of that they can do if they are uploading videos. And as you know, the standard YouTube account only allows you to upload up to a 10 minute video. But there may be instances where you will have a video that will be maybe 15, 20 or even 30 minutes long. Well, there is still a way you can get your longer videos on YouTube and then embed it in your website and playable.
And what this is creating a play list and then creating a custom video player for your website and it’s going to be all be done with YouTube. So what you would first do is take the video that you have and say it’s over 10 minutes, you’ll break it down into 10 minute segments. You have part one of three, part two of three or however many parts there are. And you will upload all your videos to YouTube.
And then what we’ll do here. For instance, I am just going to look in my YouTube account. You can see the videos that I have uploaded and you’ll see over here on the left hand side, there is play list and I’ve created play list because there are two parts for this video here and it’s over 10 minutes.
So, what we could do here is after we create the play list. Actually—let me just back this up for a second here. I am going to show you how to create a play list first because I don’t know if you’re very much aware of what you can do or how to create a play list.
There are a lot of things below a YouTube video that you may not be aware off. Let me show you something here. Here’s one of my videos. I am just going pause it for a second and let’s look at this down here.
You can see, there are a lot of things going on right here that I am sure a lot of people just overlook, don’t realize what is going on but there’s this thing called play list. I can click on this and I can select a play list, either new or create a new one or use one.
So, I can create a new play list and then add this video to that. Then I would take the next part; part two of two and do the same thing. Go view the video, click play list and then add it to it.
So I am done adding all those videos to my YouTube play list. I can go back to my play list. You can see at the right there, now this is what we’re going to do here. We need to go to My Account. Over here on the right hand side of your account, you’re going to see this thing called Custom Video Players. Click on Custom Video Players and then you can see the one I’ve already created here but we’ll click on Create Custom Player.
Now, this is where we can get some details. The design if you want to make it look different. And if you wanted a layout or only shows the video or you can have a show all the parts of the different segment video here using this type of layout design.
Let’s just say we want it to look a standard YouTube player, we can do that. Now here is where you choose content. This is how what we would do here is select the play list that we’d like to be used in this player and then finally, we just click Generate Code. Now, they want me to fill some sample stuff in here. Sample this, yeah, all right.
Anyways, let’s try that again, Generate Code, you can see, take this code right here, embed it into your site. And now, you have a video that essentially will play over ten minutes because you create a play list of multiple videos and adding all up. It’s over a ten minute video.
