I demonstrate how to add the XBMC media centre program to the right click menu so that when you right click on a file you have the option of opening the file with the XBMC program. By default this program is not in the right click menu.

How to Add XBMC media player to right click menu

Hello. I’ve just done a video on the XPMC media center and I’ve given you a very basic introduction about it. Now, I’m looking to adapt this media center as my default media player and there’s a slight problem really because if I right click on the file whether it would be an mp3 or a video file, the option to open this XPMC media player is not there. I’ll show you what I mean. I’ve got two files here. I’ve got an mp3 and I’ve got an flv video file. And I’ll show what I mean with both. I right click and all we’ve got is open with movie player which is the—one and I could also use VLC. Also, I can open with another application but it’s not listed there at all. And similarly for the mp3, if you right click on that you can go print with—or you can open with small—with a box like in—and you can open with other application. Again, the XPMC media center is not here. Not listed there at all. Now, you can use custom command but I do recommend is to grab that one. And if you want to set it so that’s when you right click, you’ll have the option here to open with XPMC media center. Do it this way, choose the particular file type, right click on, choose properties. Click on this tab here, Open With and just click on this section here, use a custom command, and just simply type in XPMC, that’s all you need to do and then just click on that and just click close. So, the next time you right click on it and you go to Open With you’ve got it there now. Open with XPMC so I’ll do that now. For the mp3, if I right click on it, it would do the same thing. You’ll go to properties and you go to again Open With tab. You need to click on that. Again, you move down to this use custom command, just click on that and then type in XPMC. And just click out, close it down, when you right click on it, Open With, it’s there now, open with XPMC. Let’s just put a couple of tips on it. I’m going to close it down now. The same principle applies to other programs if you want to add an option on the menu there. Again, this is just to short options where you can choose and go to a various of the video formats and audio formats. Okay. Thanks for watching.
