You can give your Photoshop text to 3D look by either adding a bevel or an emboss style to the text.
So to do so, go ahead and click to select your text layer or the text layers that you want to add to bevel or emboss to. And go ahead and double click some more on that layer and it will bring up your layer style box. I’m going to go ahead and move this down just below our title so I can see the changes being made as I make them.
Go ahead and click on bevel and emboss. And you could choose here the different style and if you go through this, you could see what they look like. The inner bevel, you have an outer bevel, you have a normal emboss, you have a pillow emboss, or you have a stroke emboss. So whichever one you like, I like the inner bevel a lot. You could choose a different technique for those whether you want that to be smooth, hard, chisel soft, I’m going to go ahead and do a smooth here. I like those bevel shaped with the letters. You could change the depth of your bevel or emboss and that’s just going to make it more dramatic. It’s going to make it even more 3D the larger you make that.
You could choose to have it go up or for it to be down. So up, it’s going to go ahead and jump out from your paper and then down, it’s going to go ahead and being pressed in your paper. You could change the size of it if you’d like. You can soften it if you’d like. You could go ahead and you could change the angle here and you can click here to do this or you can type in the degree. You can use global light or you cannot use global light and then you could change the altitude if you’d like. You can choose the contour of the gloss here and you’re going to get different looks from each one of these.
You could choose a different highlight if you’d like and it just gives you a different look. You can even apply a different color if you’d like and that’s going to highlight the emboss, like gives it a real rich look. You can change the opacity on that and you can change the shadow mode is you’d like. Again, you could make it even richer if you’d like or you can add a highlight that way and then change the opacity of that.
If you click on contour, you can go ahead and you can add a contour. And then texture, you can go ahead and you can apply a texture if you’d like. And then you could change your scale and your depth of your texture. So that’s how you add a bevel or an emboss to your Photoshop text.
