You can add a border in Photoshop either to an image, around a text or for some other purpose. So in this example, I’m going to go ahead and I’m going to add a border around my picture.
So what I’m going to do first is I need to create a marquee around my photo and then I’m going to change some settings so I have a nice border for my picture. So first of all, I’m going to go ahead and I’m going to select the marquee and I’m going to go ahead and select the rectangle marquee since I have a rectangular shaped picture. And I’m going to go ahead and click here and then drag all the way down to create where I want my border to be and then go ahead and release your mouse. And if it’s not perfect, you can go ahead and adjust this if needed.
So I’m going to go ahead and I’m going to go up to edit and then stroke and I’m going to get the stroke dialog box. In the width box, I can go ahead and I can set the width. The higher the number, the greater the border is going to be, the thicker it’s going to be. I’m going to go ahead and make this seven. I could change the color of my border by clicking on this and then choosing a color. I could choose the path for the border. I could choose to have it inside, meaning that it’s going to be on the inside of the marquee. I can choose to have it on the outside of the marquee or I could have it to be just at the center, just along the path. I could choose a blending mode if I’d like to have another kind of effect for my border. I’m going to go ahead and choose normal here. The opacity, a 100% is going to give you a solid color line. If you lower that opacity, it’s going to go ahead and it’s going to make it a little more transparent.
So after you’ve got what you want, go ahead and click okay, and you could see that you’ve created a border around your picture.
