One way that I like to enhance my texts is to add an inner shadow to my title and that makes it look like the background of your canvas or your image is raised up above that selected text. So go ahead and select the text that you’d like to add the inner shadow to. Go ahead and double click on that layer and we get the layer style dialog box. Go ahead and bring it down so we could see out title while we’re working on it, and then click on inner shadow. And you could see right away where the text looks almost indented into the paper like it’s a stamp. Well, we can go ahead and we could keep this or we could change a few settings to make it look even better.
So you could choose the different blend mode that you’d want to use from the blend mode drop down menu. You can also change the opacity to make that dark part of it darker or make it lighter. I’m going to make it a little bit lighter, make it a little more subtle. You can also choose the angle, and this is the angle of the light source. Got to go ahead and keep it with it on the top. You could choose the distance so you can make it even more indented. However, I think if you get too big, it kind of loses the effect. It looks a little surreal.
And then your choke, you can increase if you’d like. Size, you can increase if you’d like. We’d lose a lot of color that way though. And then you could change your contour if you’d like to get a whole different look of how it’s going to be applied. And then of course, we can increase our noise. If we want for our inner shadow to be noisier, you can see that the pixels break up as I go, as I increase that. So once you’re happy with that, you can click OK and that’s how you create an inner shadow for your text in your next Photoshop document.
