Do you have a door that is hard to close or maybe the one that would not stay open? Well, guess what? Most of those problems are easy to diagnose and they are easy to solve. Here is the first place I would like to begin.
I want you to look at the top hinge of the door. Generally, the screws that hold the hinge that are jamb to the door may be loose. You might just want to tighten those, just a half turn, or maybe a full turn and believe it or not, that may solve your problem.
If that does not work, I want you to look at the middle screw in the hinge, that is the screw that generally closest to the center of the jamb, remove that short screw and replace it with a longer screw, preferably two inches and that screw will take the door jamb back into the rough lumber, that is hidden back behind the jamb.
The problem also might be for that door that would close tightly, the hinge might not be deep enough in the jamb. To solve that problem, you got to take off the hinge and slightly removed some lumber using a wood chisel or a razor knife.
Now finally, what about that door that magically closes on its own. You can solve that easily. All you got to do is take the hinge pin out, strike it with a hammer. Put a little bend in it. Drive the hinge pin back in to the hinge and you are done. If that does not solve the problem, do it to all three hinge pins and believe it or not, that will give enough resistance to keep that door open.
Remember, solving door problem is simple. Take your time, look at all the different parts and do all that and you are going to have a great time.
