How to Adjust Sports Photos Using Curves

And then one more thing that I usually do is I usually try to run curves so I’m going to click down here and I’m going to click on curves. Can you think of curves once an instructor told me, “think of curves as a demur switch” and if you push the demur switch up, things are going to get lighter and if you push the demur switch down, things are going to get darker so if I find an area that maybe I want to be a little bit lighter.
And let’s say I want his face to be just a little bit lighter. You can hover your mouse and click down and you can see the area of it on the curves that is controlling that and then you can come over and click and then use your up arrow and it basically brings the lights up on the photo.
If you want, you can have a gentle S-curve which also brings in some of the dark areas and you just bring that down. Then you can click okay and then if you want to see the difference that it makes, you could have your little eye ball on or off. Right now everything is on and I’m going to ahead and press Alt and my eye ball to see before that is how it looked when we opened. After we opened it raw and that’s after.
That’s basically what I do to my photos. If I find that it needs more adjustments then I usually come here and I either work with the levels or hue saturation or color balance if I need to adjust certain colors to make it look better. But basically that’s all there is to it and once you get used to this you can even create action.
