Here at the welcome screen, you can read this information. Go ahead and select next to continue the installation process. You will need to review the license agreement just to ensure that you wish to go ahead and use this because they will not be held responsible on a free version as to what this may do to your computer. Once again, you do not receive support for this program.
So, once you reviewed the license agreement, select accept. Here is to notifying this is a free addition intended for personal use only. It can not be used in a commercial environment. I am going to go ahead and select accept. I am going to go ahead and once again, select the standard installation and then select next. Under user name, I’m just going to input test. You can input your own user name and select next. Here it’s allowing you to review the information to make sure that you did not need to change your destination folder. I am going to go ahead and select finish.
Okay, the installation is complete. I am going to go ahead and select OK. It will notify that you have completed the installation of the program. Of course here, you see a warning that the internal virus database is out of date. Let’s see here. We are going to go ahead and complete the process by selecting next and here are on the next screen, you can check for updates. I am going to go ahead and allow it to do that. I am going to tell it to check the internet and there is a priority database update. I am going to go ahead and select update and we see the download database coming in now.
Update was successful and finish. I am going to go ahead and select OK. If you do not select OK, you can see that it has a countdown monitor and will select that for you. Now that we have checked for updates, I am going to go ahead and select the next and here you can create a rescue disk. The rescue disk contains all the files necessary to run AVG SOS application for your computer if your system area should not become infected in case of infection or virus damage to these areas, the rescue disk will be used to restore the affected areas. The rescue disk is also critical for moving certain viruses from your system. Of course, I do strongly recommend you create one of these. I am going to go ahead and bypass this option. If you do use this, you will either need a floppy or a writable CD Drive to complete this action.
I’m going to go ahead and select next now. Of course, it wants to scan your computer, as well as all the files on the hard drive. We’re going to go ahead and have it scanned the computer now that it is updated. I will pause this screen, hold until the scan completes.
Okay, the scan finally completed. It took approximately 30 minutes for the scan to complete. You can see results in the result window, as well you can select the details to see more of your details about this scan and it shows okay. So we can go ahead and close that window now. All right, now we’re back to our free registration so go ahead and select next and your computer is protected so select continue.
Alright, this is the main interface and let me go ahead and close his and show you how to access that again once you restart your computer. Either, you can use the AVG Free Icon on your desktop or you can right click the little yellow, black, green and red icon in your Sys. Tray and select launch AVG Control Center. And here we have several options. We can view the Update Manager. Of course, next update, check, schedule on 7/20/2006. It will do it approximately every five days and go ahead and install any automatic updates for you.
In your Window as well, there is a schedule or system here. Of course, you can schedule automatic scans to run when you want. So we’ll go ahead and close this and as well on the main interface, there is a check for updates button in case you are unsure if your program is up to date. I have these scheduler highlighted and I am going to go to scheduled task and here is a test plan that few Schedule Task if I input the update plan. If you want to do a new schedule, you can create your own schedule and it will tell you that you are doing so and select OK or if you want to simply edit a schedule. You can periodically start schedule the Antivirus test start daily, this is I believe military time, so do be sure to go ahead and select the time that your computer will be on.
Now here is an option that if your computer is not on if missed, start immediately when computer starts up. You can go ahead and select that option and select OK. On the e-mail scanner, you can highlight the e-mail scanner and select Properties to review all of your plug-ins. Of course, you did not install the Outlook because I use Outlook Extensions. Select OK once you have reviewed it. The AVG Resident Shield actually is the program that keeps viruses from coming into your computer while the AVG is active, you can select Properties once you highlight that. Okay, you can select all files to scan. That is recommended scan infectible files. This will put less pressure on your computer whenever it is scanning. You can scan floppy drives and let’s review the advanced setting. Scan all files is my default now so the advanced settings are disabled because I have told it to already scan all files.
So now that your Antivirus is installed, you have scanned your computer. I would recommend that if you schedule your computer Antivirus Scan, to have it scanned at east once a week, that is typically what most people recommend and most companies as well.
Okay that concludes our video over Adware and virus software. We’ll go ahead and see you in the next video.
