Let’s take a look at some of the ways that you can align your cells in Microsoft Excel. Go ahead and select a cell that you’d like to practice aligning with. And the first thing we’re going to look at is how the text is situated within the cell.
Right now, we have it typed at the bottom of the cell and that’s what happens by default. If you go to your Home ribbon and then find your Alignment section, you’re going to find your Alignment Options and as you could see right here, it’s selected Bottom Align. I could move this to be Top Align and you’ll see how it moves the Income Statement up to the top or I could have it be to the Middle Align.
I also have it where it is currently aligned left. I could have it aligned center within my cell or I can have it aligned right within my cell. You can also increase the indent and which—there you can see it or you can decrease the indent. And you can also change the orientation, so you can have it really be at an angle if you want. That’s good, a good thing to do when you have labels at the top of like a large spreadsheet that may be longer levels. You can angle them just about any way, do vertical, you can rotate it up, you could rotate it down. You can angle it pretty much in any way that you want.
And you can also, up here, you can wrap the text to go all the way, to make it all visible. It will go ahead and show up and then you could also choose to merge and center when you like to merge together a group of cells and then center that text within those cells.
So, those are some ways that you can align your cells in Microsoft Excel.
