Kristy: Well if you got a big area that you paint and you can’t have a two colors and you
might be able t put them together with the color wash. And Sandra from Faux like
a Pro is going to show us how to do it and this is been a cool color wash tip?
Sandra: That’s a color one show and now these are the two grains you are talking about,
we’ve got two colors that we are putting together we’ve got a blue green and
we’ve got some a little color very complementary to one another.
Kristy: The important ingredient here is the glaze, need along often time glaze will work
on to the Faux like a Pro glaze and often time means its stays wet longer so more
time to work.
Sandra: Yes and we’re doing a wet on my techniques so whatever the entire wall need to
stay wet. Our ratio for this is going to be five parts glaze to one part color. The
third bucket we are going keep this third glaze and that’s going to be our third
called— okay this is color washing brushes and this again is a soft hair brush.
And they purchase this to use long, sweep in strokes because we have a huge wall
to covers. And I am just going to work with the grain first because I have been
this dominant color and now let know the spacing I have between each stroke and
I will just going to leave some space for the blue and also the clear glaze and the
blue can intersect with the green a little bit almost like you are doing a little blend
in awhile you are stroking. Each time you place your brush down you need to
move to another area, the final cast is going to be the third glaze and we are just
going to fill that in and blend with this brush a little bit.
Kristy: And that’s just going to soft in the colors?
Sandra: Yes it’s soft in the color and I have this clear glaze on here and see what’s
happening?
Kristy: Yeah.
Sandra: Pick up a little of the green and then we kind in this place a little bit in here and
then go back in and blend. Once the glaze is set up you can basically switch over
to what’s called the versa black brush and we are going to blend this and we also
drying up the glaze because the glaze stays wet for up to an hour. And we’ve got a
lot a glaze in here and here vary a little color and just by pouring up on this brush
you can eliminate all of those brush strokes if you don’t like them.
Kristy: Alright, I’m ready to give this as a shot.
Sandra: You are ready to go?
Kristy: Yeah.
Sandra: Okay good. Nice brush strokes wonderful and the angles are important. Now we
don’t want them vertical we want to do you know we don’t like these angles and
spread the glaze as much as you can until beautiful.
Kristy: Yeah.
Sandra: And then the final finish we are just going to do another sampling with the burst
of black.
Kristy: Okay well Sandra and I are going to finish up this wall but this color wash is a
great idea just looking for a little saddle color. Beautiful I can see why is this is
popular.
