Peggy Ioakim: Hi! I am Peggy Ioakim, I am with the Erwin Gomez Salon & Spa, located in the heart of George Town in Washington DC. I am showing you how to brighten up your natural hair color and cover up gray. Now, I am going to apply the hair color. Put on your gloves to protect your hands, from the color and we begin, with the roots to the mid shaft. Take the two clips out and began.
Remember to always follow the manufacture directions. Sometimes they may tell you to mix A with B and you need to follow the right directions, to assure your hair the right color. And remember if you are a brunette wanting to become a blonde, I would suggest you go to a professional. Chances are the color from the box, won't take you to that color.
By applying the color to the roots first, that's where the most heat of your body comes out. So the color will process, quicker and when you start from the front first, if you are gray, the color will grab onto your roots a lot quicker and take you, to the designated color.
By doing this it'll just help you keep your hair in order, and make it even -- distribute the color evenly. So it leaves you with the result of shiny, healthy, vibrant hair. And if there is someone that you know that's able to apply this for you, it would probably be a lot easier than doing it yourself.
Once you have applied the color on the roots, you allow 30-40 minutes of processing time. As you have allowed that time to go by, you comb the hair color from the roots to the ends and apply the remaining color to the ends. This allows us to have a even color from the roots to ends. Sometimes your ends are little dry and the color grabs quicker on the ends. So that's why, we do that. And you just apply the whole color making sure, everything is evenly distributed and once you do that, you just leave it in for an additional 5-10 minutes. This way the color again, from root to ends will be even and just by combing it, it allows the hair color to be distributed evenly.
So once you finished, applying the color from root to ends. You are going to want to go ahead and leave it in 5-10 minutes, to ensure the color is even from root to ends. After you are done with that you are ready to shampoo.
Now, that I have shown you how to apply the color. I will show you the end result.
