Male: Hey everyone, welcome to another episode of Beautified.
Hey, everyone welcome back and I want you guys to meet Genevieve. Now Genevieve and I met at the artist summit back in October. How are you doing?
Genevieve: I’m very well thank you.
Male: Good and you look beautiful of course. Now Genevieve you have to be honest with me. Do you have any problems applying your make up in the morning?
Genevieve: Yes I do. Like everybody else, I do have several issues like with my skin like for example I have extreme combination skin where my T zone gets very oily, like within an hour too but my cheeks are very-very dry and they peel. So for me my priorities to take care of my dry skin but I don’t know what to do about my oily skin and like a lot of people I have a lot of scarring from having acne and I have redness like in my cheeks, so that for me is definitely a big issue. And probably like my last issue, that I think a lot of Asian women have a problem with is the fact that I have symmetrical eyes.
Male: Okay, so you have a little uneven or is it the shape or—
Genevieve: Well actually my left eye has a well defined crease, also known as a double eyelid but my right eye is known as a transient eyelid and it can go anywhere from a double eyelid to a hooded lid even to a mono-lid depending on how much sleep I’ve got and or how I’m feeling that day. So basically at any given time my eyes are not even, so it makes it very difficult so far, I make up.
Male: Oh yeah, I completely understand. There’s a lot of women out there that have that same similar features and I’m sure that you’ve heard that a lot of probably people like on line that also look for some resolution right?
Genevieve: Oh yeah, definitely.
Male: And how do you usually like to wear your make up, do you wear them naturally or do you wear it like dramatic, like your going out for an evening or something like that or—
Genevieve: I usually just do a very like a natural look like for everyday and that’s what I’m used. I would love to do a more dramatic make up but again I don’t know what to do with my eyes.
Male: Really, how would you like to do a celebrity make over, doing a dramatic look and at the same time, we’ll resolve some of that problem?
Genevieve: I’d love to.
Male: Yeah, okay, so let’s go, I’ll take you to the city okay. All right, let’s go. And here she is hello again and this is Genevieve. I was talking with her earlier and she expressed some problems with them. This is something that I didn’t even like know that a lot of Asian women go through is that she got a symmetrical eyes, they’re uneven and its always a challenge for her to do her eye make up because of the unevenness of making them even. And she got really beautiful small eyes and part of it is that she wanted to also to give the illusion of bigger eyes right?
Genevieve: Yes.
Male: And she normally wears her makeup natural that today she wanted to do something a little bit more dramatic and colorful and something that she likes to go out at night and stuff like that. So is there something we can do for her?
Eve: Genevieve deserves to be a diva to go out in the club not be carted and yes, you will have your hot momma. Your sexy hot momma look tonight, so yes.
Male: And she got little bit of risk issue, she said with a little bit of acne, scarring and so she also wanted to soften that and give that natural look.
Eve: Definitely, were going to make sure to take care of the discoloration and the oily skin and so your face will look nice because your beautiful and flawless and were going to make you feel good.
Male” Yeah, there you go, so you’re going to be in good hands. I’m going to leave you here for a few minutes and come back and see how you look.
Genevieve: Okay.
Eve: All right, see you later. Here we go.
Genevieve: Sure.
Eve: So Genevieve were about to start and actually you know what, you guys asked for an Asian face. Here we go a beautiful, beautiful young woman so whatever you ask we are happy to oblige. So whether you skin is dry or oily, your always going to do a little bit of priming moisturizer okay? So if your skin is oily, it doesn’t mean that you do not moisturize. You sill have to moisturize your skin, its something that—because my skin is very oily too so I understand and there was a time that I would actually dry my skin out with alcohol and what that does is it actually creates more sebum in your skin and makes your face get even more oily.
Okay, the trick now is to use some anti shine, okay, anti shine. When applying anti shine, you don’t want to do it right from the tube. You want it to be in a flat surface, leave a very-very little bit. I basically take the back of the sponge that I use for the priming moisturizer and I take a little—look in the mirror. I’m just putting it in the area where you have the shine, so around your nose, most of us get it on our forehead and if you don’t want to put any make up at all, just focus like even in your lips will prevent the shine from happening there. This is great, sometimes if you’re a working make up artist and your doing wedding for men because they don’t wear make up but just a little bit of the anti shine will take that shine off. So the first thing were going to do, were going to do your eye makeup first because when your doing bold colors, three jewel tones. Were going to use the diva palette on you, yes, it’s a really strong jewel tones right here to bring your eyes out and to have you all ready for your night out of town.
Genevieve: Those are definitely not colors that I would ever thought that would work on me, they’re so bold.
Eve: They’re bold and you know what? Its time for you to just take the chance, take a risk and make sure you use this bold colors along with the all natural palette. This is basically neutrals and bold, so combine this. These are the tones that I’m going to use. This two and I’m going to use the light, the light pattern. So basically between al this, look at how many colors we have here. All this is going to complete your look, the Genevieve look. This is how—again, visually looking—I’m looking here and here. This is the best way to test even for those of us that know better. Take a little brush, try the lightest color down here and when you blend it down at this part, blends with your neck, which it does.
That’s how you know you have the right shade, so here and here should match and they clearly match so we know we have the right shades, so the medium that is you are. Okay I’m taking the foundation brush and I use the lightest color okay? All over, your eyes and this is basically—although it’s a foundation, it’s also—it will prime your eyes/concealer, all of the above so I’m doing your entire lids and above your breast like glasses. And of course, the sponge prior to starting, you take this to water and you spray it right? You spray, because you don’t need a lot of coverage everywhere, only in certain areas, so we make sure the sponge is damp, we smooth it all out, and now this will be the base that you have for your eyes. Were going to take our press powder with our little finger puffy and were going to basically just put powder all over your eyelid.
The next step, were taking a liner. Okay this is a Black pearl liner, were going to create a line and you’re going to extend your eyes, when you first start out you just draw a smooth clean black line and you don’t want to go too far out because you don’t want to pull your eyes down. Which is an issue that sometimes a lot of us do is we go all the way out and we are pulling and dragging our eyes all the way down. So I didn’t pull it all the way down, I want you to open your eyes I want you to see. I didn’t go all the way past your eye and I just took it down, I just stopped right where you own eye stops and right here I’m going to actually just going to end pulling it up. The same thing here, I’m going to pull it a little bit up. Okay that’s why I know, it’s like my gauge because I'm going to extend your eyes out so when you saw with your eye open, you’re going to make this little tiny weenie little line.
I know it’s a little strange but this is where were going to be pulling and stretching it out. You have to know where that point is because you see you can’t tell you can’t see the line right now. The next thing were going to do is going to take a liner brush. Okay this is basically—we use this for lining and also for browse and into our diva palette. I’m going to take a little bit of black, a little bit of the blue; you can mix any dark color you want. Any of this dark colors would work. I like to use them when I’m making decisions and basically I’m going to go over your liner and this will ensure that it also will look smoother and I’m going to pull your eye out now. So basically open your eyes for a second. You see how we start—I know its looking a little pointy there.
You have to have faith and keep going, I’m going to go even higher with the dark colors, and this is what were doing. So very soon you’re going to start seeing your liner, I mean when you’re open your eyes, I’m basically almost covering the entire lid of your eye okay. Very soon your going to start seeing the remnant of your eye and of the dirt that were placing, so were just drawing—this is almost a little bit theatrical but when we blend everything out its going to look gorgeous on your. Open, so were creating a more dramatic look and when we blend everything out you’re going to see how beautiful it looks. The trick when you’re doing this is this is going to disguise the fact that you said that your eyes are a little bit uneven. Open, you’re going to completely disguise that so you know no one is going to see that. I’m going to go back and give a palate and a mixer blender, were going to use now the warm tones. I’m just going to brush this out and were going to go right over the darkest area and go up a little higher.
I’m going to go back with the brush and I just want to create a little more subtle effect so maybe try to do that when we take a little bit of this two. And I’ll just create layers of you know it starts with the darkest then it goes a little bit lighter and little bit more round and then I’m going to do the little mixer. So that when we open your eyes and start pulling it out, so open, its going to just end up looking more round and pulled out. and now as this is getting more pulled out I’m going to use more of the blue and the green and I’m just going to start pulling it out open and you can do this with your eye open at this point. Because you already created darkness in the bottom, so with your eye open you’ll see exactly which direction it’s going against. So your not dragging it up or out or down too far and the weird thing when you start with your eye makeup it always look odd everywhere else and just your eyes and it looks a little bit scary but you have to have faith in that. And know that when you’re done, that’s when it counts.
Open, you see how we smooth that out. Were going to go now into our neutral eye palette and use the lightest in the second. When you notice I mix two shades usually and this two shades were going to put right above and right underneath your gravel. Were going to take our natural palette, were going to start with this two colors and were going around the first place is here. Were going to create a nice smooth eyebrow patch and as you see, were using more of the dark as you can and when you’re going out you want to go up towards the end and not pull your eye down and then you take the excess and do it again. Were going to use the darkest color of the medium, this will get rid not only the malaise but also any acne marks that you have right here. When I use the darkest, some boom colorization is gone and also in the forehead and by your cheek. Were going to combine the two rights here and here on your nose and the lightest down here? Okay, take our sponge, pull that all in. if your sponge has gone dry, just rewet it. Let’s see by doing your eye makeup first I redo this very smooth and you will give a bit of medium semi concealer and the one side.
I always like to see the difference before doing the other side and here is the concealer in medium. There we go, nice and smooth, now were going to take our press powder and put just very gently, little bit of powder, just underneath the eyes. That will set it and were going to take our medium, I mean this is our light brush and I would like to on all three colors. You will make the decisions; I just like to get all the colors. I just can’t choose pink or peach but just all of that and after you can smile and it’s done. That’s why I didn’t powder the entire face is because this is powder that I’m using the blush to powder the rest of my face instead of using press powder.
Okay now were going to take a very dramatic. I’m going to do black with a black pencil and do basically a line here and I’m going to take this liner all the way up. Let’s see, were going to take it all the way and then point it straight all the way out. Were going to take back our natural palette and were going to bronze her. I’m going to bronze her right underneath and all the way to the front of her eye. So the bronzing color and a little bit of color on you. It’s like referring the lips closed is because many of our lips are uneven so I always open my mouth and I know how to make them even. So when your lips are closed you can make them exactly the cheek, get your brush, were going to use a little bit of peach. A little pink, done.
Male: Hello ladies.
Female: Hi, how are you?
Male: Wow! Look at this, oh my gosh you look so different. Your eyes definitely are bigger right.
Genevieve: I think so, I mean like they even seem a little bit more sparkly I guess. It’s more like the center of attention.
Male: Yeah, definitely, it’s definitely a dramatic but still I can see a hint of that natural look to it. Even if I’m sure, it’s a little compared to the right.
Genevieve: I definitely dig the eye make up but at least I have the more like neutral lips, so its not like out of balance for me, so I mean—its definitely different for me but I think its very beautiful.
Male: I noticed that you did not type lined or water lined this look. You know you didn’t get two plus two on the high areas. That’s definitely something that’s helping her get that issue of the bigger eye because to me I mean I just think it’s bigger.
Female: I wanted to poll her eye out and I just want to show her how simple it was by just taking a little bit of the black color and basically really going up and not be afraid even like as I look because were all nuts. I just pull it up a little bit even higher and again do you see how I pulled that up a little bit more and made it look a little larger but if you wanted to when you’re done. You can always—I try to have rules but if you want to pull that effect, you would do it with a little bridge like that.
Male: So now, lets look at your before and this is you now after. All right and Genevieve I know that when we met in October you expressly have interest in make up and in our last episode, Jean Maries who is an intern here went back to her home town in London England and how would you like to do some internship for Eve?
Genevieve: Oh my gosh, that would be wonderful.
Male: Yeah, that would be great.
Genevieve: Thank you so much!
Male: So you will be doing internship in here and for anyone else is interested in internship, just contact Eve at evepearl.com, so Genevieve are you ready to do some internship for Eve?
Genevieve: Absolutely, oh my gosh.
Male: Before you go crazy, can we go out and have party and have fun with your new look?
Genevieve: Definitely.
Eve: Congratulations Genevieve because you’ve just been beautified!
