Hi everyone, welcome to another episode of Be–You-tified.
How to’s tips, tricks, techniques, secrets, make-up. You Be-You-tified.
Hosted by Koren Zander of Enkore Makeup.
Koren: Hi everyone welcome back, I want you guys to meet G. now, G has certain problems that she’s experiencing when she is applying her makeup. So G can you tell us what problems you usually typically get when you’re applying makeup or experience when you’re applying makeup?
G: My problem is I have a birth mark. If I will not tell you then you wouldn’t know that, right? But if I tell you, you would find out.
Koren: Birth mark, and where is it?
G: Yes, my left eye side around on the eye, right here on this part. Darker purple and then the right side, it is more clear than the left side.
Koren: So you have problem concealing the birth mark that you have in your eye. Then I see you have a little bit of freckling as well which is very not typically of Asian features, right? Usually you don’t get a lot of freckles but still and issue on the Asian skin, right?
G: For the Asian people, freckles are not that popular.
Koren: Yes, you have them so you’re lucky. You’re one of the few that has them. We’re going to take care of that, I think and how about your eye shadows? Do you have any problem applying eye shadows?
G: Yes, it is. Eye shadows always feel hard to control, their colors, how I can apply it. Even when I want to have a little smoky eyes, I juts feel that it is hard to control their colors, how to blend them to be that beautiful.
Koren: Right, and with the different kind of design and stuff like that it is kind of hard having mono lid feature which is typical of Asian eye, right? And if you wanted to wear that crease look, it is hard.
G: Yes, it is. Hopefully you can help me with that today.
Koren: Yes, Definitely. So how would you like us to show you how you can perfect some imperfection and some feature a lot of the features that you are having difficulties with, would you like that?
G: Yes, I'm very excited.
Koren: Okay, so we’re going to take you to the Eve Pro Studios and get you a celebrity make-over.
G: Okay, sure. Let’s go.
Eve: Hello Koren.
Koren: How are you?
Eve: Good, how are you?
Koren: I want you to meet G.
Eve: Hello G.
G: Hi, how are you?
Koren: And this is Eve’s Pro Celebrity makeup artist of course. Now, G has a typical, beautiful Asian features.
Eve: Gorgeous.
G: Thank you.
Koren: Now, her first problem that she explained to me earlier is that she’s got birth mark on her eye area that you can only see if she mentions it to you and I said we’re going to take care of that, right?
Now, this is a very atypical of an Asian feature that you get freckling and she’s got a little bit of freckling and see that it’s only on this side mostly, its not on there so that’s something that she also struggles with when she applies her makeup in the morning and of course that beautiful Asian lips that she have and she wanted to be able to so different kinds of makeup look and sometimes she struggles with that as well.
Is there something that we can do or her today?
Eve: Absolutely. So G, let me get to you straight, okay. We want to even out your skin tone. We want to make sure we get rid of the discoloration by your birth mark and you want to have a creased look without looking like you are drawing it on, to have it look natural, yes? And to have these all looked like you didn’t do anything, you just woke up looking gorgeous.
G: Done!
Koren: Done? Okay, so you’re going to be with Nance. I'm going to leave you guys and then come for you later, okay.
G: Thank you.
Koren: All right, have fun!
Eve: See you soon, all right, bye.
Eve: Okay, not a problem. Don’t worry we’re about to start. I'm going to start with a little bit of moisturizer, okay. a little priming moisturizer. And hopefully you do this for your skin. G, you’ve probably been told to use lighter colors on certain areas and darker on certain areas, because you have freckles here and redness, I'm going to actually use a darker color first. I'm going to take this darker color, I want you to see.
I'm going through your face; I'm going to take the darker color here and in here, all right. The darker color is actually going to get rid of all the redness and the freckles, and create a beautiful, natural cheek bone effect. I'm also going to use the darker color on your forehead and in your chin, okay.
I'm going to take a lighter color now. The lighter color, I'm going to use it down here and down here, on your lid, a little bit here, a little bit here and now, I'm going to mix the two and basically dab it everywhere else. I know it looks a little odd now but watch what’s going to happen.
I'm going to take a little water and the sponge and I'm going to wet this sponge because we used the cream. This is simply water, if you don’t have the spray bottle just put it under your sink, okay. so you want to make sure the sponge is wet. Now, because you have a really pretty skin you don’t need to have a full coverage so, that’s why I made the sponge very wet. The more wet the sponge the more sheer the coverage.
So what I'm doing is I am actually first going to make sure that you get rid of the birth mark and make the freckles go away while still seeing your skin. All right, so first we’ll do one layer, a really nice coverage and around your lips, and down below, okay.
Now, the reason you want to do one sheer layer is because most all over your face, you want to have sheer, just a sheer look. And only in certain areas you want to have it be a little bit more coverage. So now, we get to see where we need more coverage.
For the second coat, I'm going to just do it with a brush in the area that you need a little bit more coverage. So here I'm going to do it with a brush and anywhere that you might have any age spots or sun spots because you're too young to have age spots.
Around where you have the blue and the birth mark, we’re going to use the salmon concealer. I'm going to take the salmon concealer and I'm going to use it in two places. I'm going to use it below to get rid of any of the dark under eye circles. Just to show you the difference, here’s one eye, here’s to the bottom of one eye, smooth that. And now we’re going to use the salmon concealer underneath this eye as well.
Now, when I blend it in I want to be careful not to get rid of the makeup that’s covering up the freckles. Sure I like the way freckles look on but I'm going to show you how to cover them if you want to.
Now the same salmon concealer, I'm going to take a little bit and I'm actually going to put it right above your lid because this is what gets rid of the blue anyway, it’s the salmon. The same way it gets rid of the blue under eye circles. Open your eye; it just got rid of the blue birth mark. And I'm going to take with what’s left here on my sponge and just do it on the side but you can put a little bit o the salmon here if you wanted to.
Once you have the cream in there, you want to really set it with your powder. Now, for the 814 of your face, you can use powder puff with a little bit of powder all over your face and the same ting for your cheek area if you wanted to really cover up your freckles you can do on more layer.
So basically one more layer over the powder is okay so really layering, you all right? And we will once again powder it, okay. We’re going to add a little blush there and then we’re going to do your eyes.
For the blush, I'm just going to take a little bit of the 906 and do this quickly, do a little bit of sheer, do a little blush here. All right, now we’re going to work on your eyes.
G: This is the part I have to really do.
Eve: Yes, I know that’s—
G; I'm excited.
Eve: The part you’re excited about, okay, that’s great. So we’re going to use for you the natural powder. We’re going to use very, very simple colors. It’s a natural palette. These three colors are all matte and these three colors have a little bit of a shimmer. I'm going to show you how to use these three basic colors and the blush that I’ve used on you.
We’re just going to use the blush and the odd palette for your eye makeup and you blush. We’ll make it very simple. We’re going to begin. This is an all over eye shadow brush, okay, all over. So actually we’re going to take the medium color and we’re going to put it all over your eyes, the medium color all over your eyes.
Now, we’re going to take—this is the famous Eve Pearl Liquid liner, it’s smudge-proof and water-proof so it’s not going to crease on your eyes. We’re going to take the liner and I want you to see when you’re withdrawing this, its never going to be smudgy. Once it dries, it comes water-proof.
When you put this on your eye, the first place you put it is in the center and not all the way through. You put it on the center and you basically take it out slowly.
Now G, do not take it out all the way because if you are going to take the liner up all the way you might pull your eye down. Open your eye for second, we’re just going to see how far to take it. So, right here before you get to the very end we are going to stop because we don’t to drag your eye down. For a minute we’re going to stop right there and the thing I'm going to do on the other side.
We’re going to create this liner and just keep your eye closed for just a moment, just to let this dry. Open your eyes for a second so you see where I stopped, I didn’t go all the way out.
G: Yes.
Eve: But I will when I smoke it out. We’re going to take now a liner brush, okay. I'm going to go into this dark, the darker brown and I'm going to basically go right on top of the liner and right on top of the liner because what this is going to do is this is going to make it so it’s soft. Open our eye now, so it’s just soft and you see it, and it is also going to make the black not such a harsh line.
Now, we’re going to take a little crease brush into the medium and a little bit of the dark. I'm going to make a little bit of V and for this if you want you can keep your eyes open because you’re going to see where you want to have your crease.
So we’re going to make it here, okay. We’re going to make it subtle. You see this is very, very thin so we’re going to make a subtle crease going in. it’s very, very thin and you see how here I'm making a V with it.
G: Yes.
Eve: but we’re not going to leave it looking like that, don’t worry. We’re just creating a shape and then later we’re going to hide. So we’ve created a little bit of a pretend lip, okay. The same thing on the other side, the darkest and the medium and here we’re going to create a little bit of a V. now you’re going to open your eye and look straight ahead to see where you want your crease to be so its even. Open your eyes look in straight ahead and we’re going to create the same little crease so that when you’re eye are going to be open, you’re going to see like a lid. And the way you do that is by keeping your eyes open, that’s how you create this little crease. You want to keep your eyes open, okay.
Then we’ll connect this. Now, close for a second and then we’ll connect these two and we really make it nice and deep. So you see where those little creases are?
Okay, so, we’re going to do it again. A little bit, we’re going to create the crease, a little V and then the crease, once again a little V and a crease, okay. Now, you’re going to take a blender, this is a blender brush. We’re going to take a little bit of the bronzer and we’re going to take what we used for your blush, this is your blush. Take this bronzer and take this bronzer, see this one? This is more bronzy brown, this is more bronzy peach.
We’re going to right here, down, and above on top of the crease so we’re going to soften that up, okay. Now, we’re going to go back into our original neutral. We’re going to go with the lightest color, with our lightest color right in the inner part of your lid. So we’ll make that light, see so you can see the little crease right in here. So we’re using actually the light and the medium of the two shiny parts. And we’re going to take our original all over eye shadow brush and we want to clean up the whole top area so you don’t see anything harsh.
The best way to clean up actually is by using your pressed powder. This is matte; the colors are shiny so you’re going to use a matte color to clean up on top just to have it look smooth. The same shadows we’ve just used for your eyes, we’re going to use for your eyebrows. These three, not just one, you don’t want to use grays, you don’t want to use around these three and other the 1525 colors but watch what’s going to be. The first place you put this is right up here in the middle because if the color you chose is too dark and you started here, its going to be too dark, very dark. So if you take a color, you go one, two, three and you start here, you’ll always going to be able to fix it.
When you’re taking this out, don’t pull it down, you want to pull it up. If you don’t want to use the second color, you can use the first one and the darkest one but you don’t want to go too dark but see you’re applying it out.
And then in here, we’re just going to give you a little bit of depth and I'm not taking your brows all the way down. If you noticed, its more brown that it is black because its going to be softer looking that way. And also here we’re just going to take it out.
Take the lash, close your eyes and we can do it over the entire lid. Okay now, open your eyes for a second open your eyes, okay great, and close. Now, this is the Eve pearl method, the inside part of the lash we’re going to push down and the outside part we’re going to push up.
This is really going to look gorgeous on you. Okay, open and now I'm going to go into a brown pencil and I'm going to line the bottom just a little, okay. The same thing here and now, we’re going to take a thin, thin mixer and we’re going to put a little bit of gold right here. I'm going to show you a little bit of the bronzer here, the bronzer gold. And I'm going to put this right underneath so we’re going to make it smooth, so it’s not going to be a harsh line, just a little powder.
This is the Glamour lashes, it makes that actually full so I'm going to rub it. When you have mascara, you don’t want to go in and out because air makes it dry so, you’re just going to roll it. Here we take it out. Now, we’re going to connect your lashes with these fake lashes and you can look down if you want to and you can blink if you want to blink. I'm basically going to connect your lashes with these fake lashes because if you don’t have any mascara on your lashes, it’s going to hold to these so the same thing on this side and this will connect them.
Open, and now we’re going to do a little bit of your lips, This is Natural Cosmo because you already have a lot on your eyes so we don’t want to make too much on your lips so I'm just going to fill it in very gently and lightly. I always like to do first the shape, and as I noticed that on your lips, you have little points but I'm going to make it a little bit more round because it will go naturally towards your natural shape, it’s good.
Pull it on a little bit, filling it in, now you’ve got beautiful lips. And over here, if you take a little brush you can actually brush your lip pencil in. This particular one is most likely a lipstick. Okay and we’re going to use for you, this is called Wet Kisses and this is called See-Through and then put the wet kisses on, a little bit of this.
Okay miss G, hi! You look different. How do you feel?
G: Great! Wow!
Koren: Hello, wow! Oh my, wow! Look at your eyes?
