That is really awesome! thank you for the tips. I have been trying to decide what exactly I want to do with my walls when i get finished framing and mudding the drywall. How to Apply Texture to Drywall

Hi, I’m David Lupberger with ServiceMagic.com. In this video, I want to show you after you’ve done a drywall patch, how to match the texture on your patch to the rest of your wall. Now if your wall is perfectly smooth, you can see after we’ve done this patch and a little bit of sanding that this smooth surface is close to the existing wall. And I think you’ll usually find this when you put on a coat of primer and then paint. The nip of the roller will probably match your existing wall. But in many cases around the country, you have different finishes. One’s called the Knockdown finish, the others called and Orange Peel. I want to demonstrate both. Let’s start with the Knockdown. Interestingly enough, you can buy this product in a can at any good hardware store. And this is called knockdown texture. So I’m going to get back about 24 inches, and I’m going to spray the surface. Now in this case, I want to let it dry about a minute. Once we’ve sprayed the wall and give it a little more than a minute to set, I’m going to take a six-inch blade like this and just lightly drag it over the surface. As you’ll see, I’m happy with some areas but not with others. So if I’m doing this on my own wall, I would scrape this off and do it again because with the amount of the can that I have, I can do this two or three different times to arrive at the finish I want. Another type of finish is called Orange Peel. And this could actually be applied in one-step. Now once again, I went to a good hardware store and found orange peel spray texture. I’m going to come back about 24, 30 inches and then spray the finish. Heavier, the match that you have or lighter depending on the finish on your own home. At this point, I don’t need to go back into anything. Within about 20 to 45 minutes, depending on how thick the texture is, you’ll be ready for your prime coat to start your painting.
