Full Knee Spider
Dr. Kevin D. Jardine D.C.: To begin the application of the full knee spider, start by tearing all the perforations along the black lines. Tear all of the perforations first before attempting to apply the application.
For section number one, tear the backing of section number one halfway and apply just to the bottom portion of the knee, along the patellar tendon. Gently rub the tape to activate the glue. Once that portion is applied, tear off the remaining portion of section one and rub the tape thoroughly to activate the glue.
For step number two, start peeling back the backing of section two, anchor the base portion and stretch the tape slightly coming up and allowing the top of the thigh, ending at about the mid-portion of the thigh just to the inside of center.
Rub to activate the glue starting from the beginning portion all the way to the end portion. This will ensure no creases form in the tape. Each section has to be applied individually before you move on to the next section. Anchor the portion of the base, pull up and around the inside of the knee ending at about the same level as the first section. Once again, rub to activate the glue starting from the beginning portion.
Step number three, start peeling back, lower outside portion of the tape without any stretch on the tape, here you come in gentle contact with the skin. Peel the backing, let the tape come in gentle contact, be sure that there are no creases that form, and once the tape is about 90% applied on each section, then tear the entire portion of the backing off and gently rub the tape to activate the glue. Avoid touching the adhesive side of the tape as that will affect how long the tape will remain on the skin.
Then take the leg, straighten it out, bring it out to the outside stretching the adductors, peel back the inside upper portion and as you anchor, gently bring the tape in contact with the skin as you lightly bring the backing off of the tape having the tape and at about the top outside portion of the knee. Rub to activate the glue from the beginning to the end. No stretch on the tape, let it come in gentle contact with the skin.
Now we are going to bring the leg over to stretch out the lateral portion of the leg, peel the backing, gently let it come in contact with the skin, lightly smooth it down to eliminate any creases, ending at the top, outside portion of the knee, gently rub to activate the glue.
And finally, the last portion, never peel back the backing until 90% of the tape is applied, let it come in contact with the skin, then take your remaining portion off and rub the tape from where you begin to where you finish.
Once applied, gently rub over the tape once again to ensure proper activation of the glue and making sure there are no pieces that are still not attached.
