Hamstring Spider
To begin the application of the hamstring spider, have the client lying on their stomach with the leg straight and the hamstring exposed. Begin by tearing the application along the lines of perforation label in the black. Tear all of the perforations first before beginning the application.
For step number one, tear the backing completely off and apply to the junction of the upper hamstring and glute. Be careful not to touch the adhesive side of the tape. Let it come in gentle contact with the skin. Once applied, rub over the top to activate the glue.
Then have the patient lie on the side, and straighten the leg out, stretching the hamstring muscle over. Start taking section number two, peeling it back. As you peel it back, gently adhere the tape to the back of the hamstring, until the entire portion of section two has been removed. Gently rub over top of the tape to activate the glue.
For step number three, start peeling back the section number three, letting the tape come in gentle contact with the skin with no stretch on the tape, and when 90% of the tape is applied, peel the remaining portion off adhering the tape in the direction of the outside border of the back of the leg in line with the biceps femoris. Once applied, rub over top of the tape to activate the glue.
Final section, peel back, gently allow the tape come in contact with the skin, towards the inside border of the back of the leg along the line of semitendinosus and membranosus. Once 90% of that section is applied, peel the remaining portion off and rub over top of the tape to activate the glue.
