Postural Spider
For the application of the postural spider, begin by having the client standing in a comfortable position, bring the shoulders back, allowing for proper postural position of the shoulder blades.
Start by tearing all of the perforations along the black line. For step number one, peel the backing of section one off and apply to the top portion of the shoulder blades along the center of the spine. Once applied, rub over top of the tape to activate the glue.
It is most commonly recommended that the postural application is applied in a structural application. Therefore, the tape will be stretched and the muscle will not be. Ensure once again that the client is in proper postural position, peel back the backing of section number two. Apply a mild amount of stretch while anchoring the central portion. Let the tape come in contact with the skin and apply the remaining portion, approximately one inch, without any stretch on the tape. Once that portion is applied, rub over top of the tape to activate the glue.
Apply each section thoroughly before moving on to the next. Tear the backing off of section number three, about 90% in the way, anchor, apply a bigger stretch to the tape. Let it come in contact with the skin, and then allow the remaining portion, approximately one inch, to come in contact with the skin with no stretch on the tape. Once again, once that section is applied, rub to activate the glue.
Step number four, peel the backing of the tape, anchor, apply a light amount of stretch. Let it come in contact with the skin and then tear the remaining portion off. Finally, step number five, peel the backing of the tape, approximately 90% in the way, anchor, stretch the tape, let it come in contact with the skin, and then gently peel the remaining portion of the backing off without any stretch.
Once the postural spider is applied, rub over the top of tape to ensure proper activation of the glue.
