Hi. I’m makeup artist Debbie Jean creator of Real Women Makeup website. Today I’m going to demonstrate to you how to apply a smoky eye makeup look.
A great tip is to always use an eyeliner pencil in a similar shape to the eye shadow color you’ve chosen to wear. When the smoky eye look is usually demonstrated, it is always, always done in black. So I would like to show you a smoky eye look in brown.
Prepare the eye surface with concealer and powder and then take a soft eyeliner pencil in a similar shade to what you’re going to be using in eye shadow and apply that across your entire eyelid area. Make sure you blend the line a little with your finger and then apply the same color on the inside room of the eyes to create further definition.
Now, take your choice of eye shadow color and apply to cross your entire eyelid area using a large dome-shape makeup brush. Cover the entire lid from left to right and slightly up towards the crease area.
The next step would be to take a rounded brush and apply the same shade of shedder through the crease of the eyes. Make sure you work through the crease of the eyes and blend your eye shadows slightly above the crease area. So when your eyes are open the shadow grows up the crease and further intensifies the smoky makeup look.
Remove all the excess eye shadow off of your brush and soften and sweep and break the edges of the top section of your eye shadow to make sure that your look is blended and smoky.
Now, take a dome-shape brush and apply your highlighter directly underneath your eyebrow area creating the illusion of lifting the eyebrow burn in completing the look.
Now, take your rounded makeup brush and blend your eye shadow color and your highlighter shade together to make sure that they blend and meet together softly and gradually.
To apply eyeliner underneath the eyes, use a flat firm makeup brush. Dip off the excess shadow on your hands, so it doesn’t spill under your eyes and apply that directly underneath the eyes and quite a wide smoky band. This really does add to the smoky look all the way from left to right and slightly thicker on the outside corner.
Reapply your eyeliner onto the inside room of the eyes to create a lasting application. A handy tip is to take your highlighter color on a cotton bud and apply that to the inside corner of the eyes to open and freshen the eyes and create a modern fresh look.
For the smoky look, apply mascara to the bottom lashes as well as the top lashes to create further definition around the eyes a really bring out the eye color. Look at how it defines the eyes and brings out the eye color.
