How to Approach the Plate in Baseball

We are talking today about approach to the plate. I tried to get our hitters to understand it. When they go to the plate the pitcher is trying to get them to swing the pitches that he wants them to swing at and what I am trying to tell our heaters is they want to pick their pitch. When they go a little plate it is very important about your approach and you hear major league pitcher major league hitters talk about all the time about they have an approach to the plate and I think it is something you get a stress to your young hitters at 12,13 and 14 years old. It is, you got to go with approach to the plate and you are looking for a pitch 00 with your 00 count. You are looking for a pitch that you are going to hit hard and I also drill our hitters and letting them know what the kind of hitter they are, whether it is high ball hitter or low ball hitter or ball they like out. Some hitters like the ball out over the plate, some book guys like the ball in.

Wherever it is, that is the spot they should be looking at and the counts that are 00. That are 1-0 that are 1-0, 2-0 positive hitter accounts and then they have to adjust as the strike count gets higher. Once they get the strike on or maybe have to be a little more, they cannot be as choosy but the most important thing is make it sure they do not get cheated, make them sure and that is the common thing I said to all hitters, do not get cheated. As if you are going up there and looking 00, you are looking for a pitch that if you are swinging an 00 you are going to hit that ball awfully hard.
