Your furnace in air conditioner can use a lot energy keeping your home comfortable. If you’re heating, ventilating an air conditioning or HVAC system in your home aren’t properly insolated, your system has to work extra hard. This wastes the electricity and raises your electric bill. And of course, the less energy you use the more echo friendly you are.
First, check the dock work for leaks. This applies to you if your system runs on four-stair and you can easily see or access at least some of the dock work. Most dock sent heated or cooled hair into the house. The one large dock is called the return. If you can, check the dock system for leaks, from the outside while the fans on. Run your hand or a thin sheet of paper beside the docks. Look or feel for air leaks around joints and seams. If you find any leaks, seal the seams with heat resistant tape from the hardware store. When you’re around docks, wear a dust mask. You can find them at hardware store too. Also, close the fans leading to rooms that don’t need to be cool off your warm up.
Next, check the insulation wherever you can. Missing insulation is easy to deal with. It’s usually missing around light fixtures and where somebody has pushed it aside to work. Fill the holes by either replacing the insulation or filling them with expandable foam insulation which you can get at hardware store.
Hot water pipe should be well insulated too. To do this, cut a piece of foam cylinder lengthwise and push the piece over a pipe. Fiber glass insulation tape works better but you must unroll the tape around the pipe, doing that, can be very difficult in tight spaces. Be sure to change your furnace filters. Your filter may be located behind some type of face platter cover. But removing the cover in the filter should be easy. Furnace filter stop allergens like dust from entering your home and circulating around your house. Clog filters forced the machinery to work harder. Changing filters every month or so is definitely cheaper than paying the extra power bill.
Finally, replace your service inefficient HVAC systems. Old HVAC systems are inefficient. Your best bet is to call an HVAC service company and have them analyze your equipment. Get at least three quotes from different companies if you decide to have work done. Even if your systems aren’t old, a service technician can tell you how efficiently everything is working.
