How to Automate Updates in Windows XP

You can eliminate the necessity to check for updates manually by using a feature called automatic updates. With this picture enabled you can instruct Windows to periodically check for high priority updates. To enable automatic updates open system in control panel and click the automatic updates tab, select one of the first three options available. Choosing the automatic options as your best choice, these options checks for high priority updates on the schedule you specify, downloads them as it become available and installs the update.
