Leah Eckelberger: Hi! Everyone it's Leah again. Welcome back. We really know for sure what makes a jean sometimes a mom jean. It's kind of -- its one those the things when you see it you know it but you cant really point out the traits all the time. There is no reason that because you are a mom, you need to have a really awful mom jean. You could use something that you can find all over the internet, a few Google; I think its SNL mom jean you'll find a video, our commercial that's a spoof on the gap and they feature moms in these jeans. So I took a still from that.
What we're dealing with here is a bunch of issues arise that is pretty down high first of all. I know if you can closely see but whining that's being pulled really tight across the front of her belly. This is her belly, okay. Then we're dealing with the jean that is much bigger in the leg than she truly is. It's actually, it's hard to see in the picture but there is actually excessive material and that really boxes her out. This woman also has the same issue pleading, high rise and this woman, she has got a flat butt. There is no badong-gadong. There is no junk in the trunk, there is nothing to speak up against, high rise, unnecessary and the color thing. Notice, remember, last week we talked a little bit about shading; about how the variant in shading is really important for a jean. Notice there is none. So here no shading, certainly no shading here and absolutely none here.
Again she suffers from everything, everybody else does too. She has got the rise pulled up way, up to the sky and she has got no pleating cool tight. Alright, so this is another example of the mom jean that I found off the internet as well. It's disturbing on many, many, many levels. The first one is that there is a yoke that is very well. There is a V on this jean that's sits very low. First of all again the rise is slightly high. It's unattractive and what that sky high rise does is not only does it look like you can double it up as a bra but in the back it gives you long butt. It makes your butt look absolutely long. It's a really big expensive of material and it makes your butt look like it literally is heart of your back. It makes it look like you got no butt. So a lot of women what they try to do to as -- you get older a lot of women lose their butt. Their butt tends to flatten out. It's just something that happens to women as we get older, not always. Some women are graced with great butts all their lives. But a lot of women as they get older they actually really need to think about things that will lift and also enhance what's there. So what they follow to is the mistake of thinking, okay there is no back pocket, so this will make my butt look fantastic because it falls into the rule of basically you know smaller back pocket so you will really make your look bigger. This is a mistake to fall into with the dreaded mom jean. And the reason is because as such rules correct her butt does look little rounder, fuller as there is all no back pocket. But what's kind of canceling that out is the length of this rise. This rise is way too long for this women's body. And you just seriously, it's just looks all back, so no, no, no we just say no to that.
Now other thing that we notice in the back too, something which we've talked before is shading. We really want to see the shading because that shading, that little bit of light shade on the butt again it's going to do what we consider the quarter back. It's really going to pop the butt up and you get note of that it's one tonal. The other thing that is kind of a jean or mom jean on this jean is that it's neither loose nor tight. I don't know if you can see the leg at all; let me bring it up a little further so that you can see. But it's neither loose nor tight and also the leg is slightly tapered. There is nothing wrong with the tapered leg ladies but there is something wrong with when it's neither here nor there. This isn't even a classic light shade because there is no tonal change. There is nothing interesting about this jean. We should ladies all be wearing a tacky You know it's just there is something interesting if you're going to get a jean, you want the jean to do the work for you. Jeans have been shaded in a specific way to make it look good. Jeans have been colored in specific way to make you look good. Jeans have been fit in certain way to make you look good. This jean doesn't make her look good. It dates her and it makes her look probably much older than she needs to, okay.
This past Saturday there was a Neil diamond concert which is great brings out you know a lot of people try to be in by appearance demographic which you know it's great. Most of the pants, I saw a lot of mom jeans and I was really saddened by it actually. I was a little traumatized but I was much more saddened than anything. So I went ahead and snapped a picture from my camera phone of two ladies. The reason I took the picture was because I thought we could do better justice to them. So let me walk through show you what's going on here and let's talk about what to look right. Because those were internet examples you know it's easy to kind of say Okay this is what to type in Google mom jean. This is not we're not to do but its one thing to see it on the street, okay. So, let's run through this.
First of all I'm going to say these ladies are awesome and lovely and it was beautiful spring day or summer day I should say. The weather was like spring and they were out in style. They were supporting Neil Diamond in and his concert team. I don't think you can see it but she is definitely a fan, hardcore fan. So if we focus on the jeans a little bit we'll see a couple of common problems, okay. Again the rise is sky high. Sky high rise, okay she has it - her shirt tucked in which is fine but it's so high that you can barely see the words diamond for Neil Diamond, who knows if she is a fan or not. It's too high, too high, okay. The other thing that she is doing is she basically has the one tonal color so there is no shading. The pockets are good, the pocket placement is good. It's bigger back pocket in her back side because it show the little bit if duckly duck, which is just fantastic. We like when women are all about you know duckly duck. But the other thing that's really not working for here is that it's a Capri and that's cutting her off you know very in the largest point of her calf. That is really going to make her squat out and it also you're going to make her look a little boxy as well. So I want to talk about how to avoid this in the next step and let's move on to her friend. Her friend is adorable, loved the friend. Rocked the little scarf piece, love the accessory. You know all that starts the season absolutely fantastic. Loved the pockets here at middle back, pocket detail on her jeans the under it love it. What else is going on here though?
Her rise is not as high as her friend so she gets cudos that, definitely good. But these pants are so Johnny Walkers. I feel like I could jump in there with here. I could jump in and party. It's like ridiculously good on her. I mean if she was basically stand in a breeze, she would fly off because of the so much material on this jean. It's high - how little she is and how adorable she is.
Another thing too again, so I think that these women suffer from lack of trimmed leg. Ladies there nothing wrong with wrapping a Capri but again you got to be very careful about the color in which you do it with. I know we've talked about while there you so have to do it and you know light colors are okay, absolutely but notice it again there is no shading, there is nothing. There is no vertical lines to kind of make your legs look longer and leaner. There is nothing to help them out so if you're going to go ahead and do something that is going to stump you down make you look kind of stumpy then do it in some sort of color that's going to help, okay.
