Now ladies, when you are looking to go into premium denim, there actually are some brands that are meant for older costumer, and that is their demographic, that is their target audience. It would be wise here to go into the store and ask, do you have any jeans that are meant for an old audience at all? Chances are good, they're going to say yes to you. Now, we have a few brands that we work with, that definitely are meant for an older costumer, and have a midsize to almost a high-rise, but they have been designed in a way not to give you the long butt syndrome, okay.
So the first brand I'm going to show you is a brand called Pine IV. Pine IV is a brand I wear and I love. I think it's great. It's comfortable, it fits my body well and I'm short and I usually do pretty well. So for me to be endorsing something that sits a little bit higher, that's says a lot about the magic they work, okay. So Pine IV is done by company a called Christopher Blue. The owner is Japanese fellow and he wanted to do a rough, fun, funky line. Christopher Blue is my favorite for an older audience. So Pine IV is sort of taking that to an edgier level. He wanted to use Japanese fabric and he wanted to do sort of fun kind of unique washes. So this is his edgier Pine, okay. Pine IV, it's great.
So Pine IV, they have this one style called the Kyoto, and the Kyoto is, they bring it back every season, and they always -- for a while, they are bringing it back only in one color and then a light color, and we were just happy with the dark color. We wanted it in this type of a wash, because it was dark, and a couple of things, again, because in Boston, ladies like their jeans dark. So a couple of things about this jean that works really, really well. The first thing is, I think that Christopher Blue, what they understand is that, as women get older, their bodies change, and a lot of times their butts tend to flatten out. And because of that, a couple of things are really working to your advantage here. You've got a bigger back pocket, that a lot women feel like kind of high camouflaged, the width of their butt because a lot of times it flattens out and it kind of widens out, just an unfortunate fact, but it does happen.
So you have got a wider back pocket to a little fuller. But the thing that's so great about this jean for an older woman is that you've got this really fun front detail. It's not too young ladies, let me tell, you flaps are not young. If this was covered in pink speckles maybe, but this is a classic jeans shape and it looks beautiful. So that flap is going to make it look like you have more going on in your tushi than what's really there. That's great. That's great for an older woman to have.
Again, it's a little bit of a higher rise, but notice that it's higher in the back and not in the front. But it's not super, super, super high, okay. Notice that the yoke also doesn't deep too far down. So there is nothing that's really bringing your eye down. We want to bring your eye up. We want to pop your butt up, that's a kind of cheater. The other thing is subtle but there is a little bit of lighter fade on the butt and it's darker through the leg. Again, it's really important you understand that. And again lighter fade on the thigh, darker on the outer and inner, okay.
So this is a great jeans to just start out with and see what you think of it, how it feels; the other thing too is it's cut a little forward through the hip and thigh and that's just fantastic. It has a little bit of stretch to it like most jeans do these days. So give it a whirl, see what you think?
Another brand that we love is a brand called Red Engine. Now, Red Engine is fantastic for a few reasons, because they have classic jeans shape here, very classic, classic color and it's just a timeless jean. And what's really nice is that their low-rise is not super duper low. It's not that low-rise that your 12 year old daughter is trying to come by with. It is low, but it is now super low. And the mid rise is actually fairly substantial. The mid-rise I would say it's about a 9.5 half inch rise. So it's pretty big. So in my hands, I'm holding the low-rise option. I don't know if you can see but the low rise is pretty high for a low rise jean. It's not non-existent; it's not minuscule. It's substantial. Now ladies, this is important, when you look at a jean, you need to be able to hold it up and say, I think that rise is going to be a little higher. And if you think it is, go ahead and grab it, see what you think. We have a lot of women who are older and low-rise Red Engines.
Now, if you think that it might not be what you're looking for, ask, don't be afraid to ask; always ask. But this is a great jean. We see a lot of women coming and say, I don't like it too low. It's just -- everything hangs out and plugs out. What do I do? This is the jean for you. You don't have to go super high, but you can if you need to. If you feel comfortable in it, and it doesn't give you long butt, all good.
So the other great thing about this jean is, again a bigger back pocket which is great, proportions you out. So if you feel like you're lighter, proportions are good. Little bit of stitch detail land we know how we feel about stitch detail. We like it because it draws the eye to the butts. So it kind of get your butt back pop, little bit of right shape, again popping the butt. And overall, it's a great jean. It's classic, it's a boot cut with classic colors do really well with it, and it feels really fantastic.
We have people coming and asking for other colors in it and they just want to stick with the boot cut classic. It looks beautiful on. So these are things to think about when you're going shopping for jeans. These are things that you want to avoid and these are recommendations for jeans that might help you to kind of avoid the mom butt syndrome.
So that's it for this week. And let me know if you guys have any questions or comments at all. I'm happy to discuss whatever topics you guys are interested in hearing about. So that's it for this week. Hope you guys have a good one.
