How to Backup Files with Clickfree Transformer
What we always say in the show is a vitally important to back to your information that is on your hard drive whether that’s a laptop or a desktop. We featured in the past hard drive some Clickfree and these are automatic back up drive. So essentially by plugging them in they automatically back up all of your important data files without any configuration. Well, what if you have an existing external hard drive that you wanted to use but still want that functionality?
Well, this company has actually come out with the Clickfree transformer and essentially, it allows you to turn any external hard drive into a Clickfree back up solution and all you have to do is plug it into the USB slot of your laptop or desktop computer and you can do this with a number of your desktops or laptops that you have in your home or your office.
Again you don’t have to have any knowledge how to back stuff up. It’s all automatic. You can see in a moment here it’s going to pop up on the screen. Now it’s telling me to plug in my external hard drive and what all I do is plug into the USB slot here and in another moment or two it will actually pop up on screen. It automatically back up to over 400 different data file types everything form spreadsheets to pictures to video. Right now, if I do not do anything you can see it’s doing a countdown timer here. It just kind of automatically start backing up all the data files that it thinks it’s important on this desktop computer.
And again pictures, music, video, word documents, spreadsheets, Power Points even e-mail files as well and it will automatically back that up to this drive. You can see here the back up process. I don’t have a heck of a lot of stuffs on this particular computer right now so it’s going to be pretty quick and within a bit of time here you can see it’s done. Once you’ve done the first backup it just incrementally backing up new file as you put in each additional time. You can see here right now its giving me a little run down but this is the current PC its on and again you can take this from computer to computer even laptops as well. Right now you can see here I've got one music file. I've got 13 text documents. I got few spreadsheets there and I'm basically done.
If my computer were to ever crash or anything bad would happen I can basically take this now to any new computer laptop and then get all of my data back. I got some additional options here. I can go through and I can browse the different files that I backed up in all different directory structures that they were in. I can even go in the search files if I want to as well. So a lot of options you can go in here to the options menu and at this point here is actually giving you a pie chart of how much memory is left on the hard drive, how much is actually back up. And I can even go into the tools if I want to. If I need to reconnect, you completely reset this and start from fresh but I do not need to do that. I can also go to the restore function here and that’s the restore if you ever crash your computer. Again just take this and it will automatically dump all of that information back on to the new system. Get us called the Click free transformer if you want to back up things easily.
And again you take this from computer to computer in your office or maybe if you got a loved one that doesn’t back up things so easily. They do not know how to, you can basically give them this and then the external hard drive and it will automatically do it for them.
