Hi. Okay, this is a new video for blogtactics.com. This video is going to show how to back up from a store or word-press blog. You should be backing up your blog in a regular basis at least weekly to make sure that you got a copy of it in case anything goes wrong like host goes down, or gets hacked, or something like that and there is a very quick and simple way of doing a back up is with word-press plug-in obviously, which we will start and having a look at.
There are a few steps that we are going to go through of written down what we are going to go through. First of all, we are going to back up the database to get the plug-in for the back up and get a word press to org. and do a search with press backup plug-in or just go to this bill here and upload the plug-in and activate it and that will allow us to back up the blog. Then we are going to add the main into the new hosting and change the name service.
We are going to add the new blog. We are going to restore the blog that would back up to the new blog using phpmyadmin, nice and technical bit, but it is very quick and easy to do, hence doing video to show you exactly how to change the name servers, check new blogs up and running and then add the themes and plug-ins to get things up and running.
Do not delete the blog of your own hosting until you are happy that the new one is up running just in case you need to get back to it, in which case all you do is change the name service pack. This video as usual will be on blogtactics.com along with all other videos. The blog I am going to move is called pufile.net, just one of my travel blogs.
So, the first thing we need to do is log in, go to plug-ins, make sure you have got the wordpress database back up plug-in activated, which is on this one. So, the next we are going to manage back up and when that comes up, just take setting to two. This is a screen that you will see when it comes up. Basically, you have got the option to add extra bits that you would not back up. I am not going to ask you to bother with any of this that is irrelevant for the particular blog, but you can back up extra database tables. You should recognize this from different plug-ins that you are using.
Okay. You can back to the server or the host that you are on, but I am actually going to back up to my own computer and download it to my computer, that tends to be the best way of doing it. So, simply click on back up and that will starts working. Once it is completed, it will pop up with the pop up for the downloads. So download that locally to my hard disk. It pours as it runs, but it is pretty quick. Okay. So, we have got pop up. We will just say down file and we are going to save that locally. Let me just decide where I am going to save it. I got the site putfile. So, I go a folder created for that. I am just going to save this file into that particular folder. It will take a few seconds to actually download that file.
Once the file is downloaded, browse to where it is on your local hard disk and open up. What we are going to do is extract that file that is in there, so we got back to work with. On your WinWrite to do this or WinZip will do the same thing. I am simply going to extract that, so then it will appear in a local folder. Okay.
That is actually created as a photo. What we are really interested in is the file within there, csql file. Okay, because we are going to use that in a minute when we restore the blog. So the next step is because you are hosting and add your domain to the hosting or if she boot up the C-panel here for the hosting of either of this two. So add domain into your hosting. I am not going to show you that on this video. If you need other videos on things like adding a domain to your C-panel host, using ftp, all that sort of stuff. They are all mat4.com videos. Okay, showing you how to do a bidding.
Okay. So, I will simply bring up the C-panel and the part that we want to scroll down is the fantastic code. This will pop up in a separate browser and I am going to add a new wordpress blog. This is a very quick and easy way of setting up a new blog and we are going to new installation and we are simply fill in the details that we need for the blog.
Okay. So, I am not going to install it on the sub directories. So, it is actually going to be in the main directory. We are going to use the administrator username. I am going to put it in my password, put it in the admin, nickname again is admin and put in some other details like site name and description and again the password down here, which is why I am not going to show you this bit because I do not want you to know my password. Okay. So I am going to fill that in and then click on install and then it will come back to the video. So, if you click on that install button, it should take any a second or two and it will come up with this second page and you then simply click on finish installation.
The next screen then confirms the details and you can put an e-mail address and click on the send e-mail to send yourself a copy of the username and password, which are hidden under there. So, you have got a copy of that sent to you locally to see that you got that. Okay. So, that is how with wordpress blog installed. So, I am actually going to do that. I am going to send myself a copy of the details to my e-mail address. So, I will do that and click on send e-mail then I will start the video again just so that again you do not see the password.
Okay, having done that, we can close down this window. So, let us close this and get back to C-panel. The next thing we need to do is restore a database onto these blogs. So, we are going to mysql databases from C-panel and once we are in there, we are simply going to scroll down to the bottom where this is a link to phpmyadmin. We are going to click on that and it actually it would open a new window.
