Window it takes a second or two to come up oops it is asking me for the password again okay I left a little awhile there on my session of time and dates I just needed to move back in, okay in PHP admin this looks as all technical does not it. Do not worry about it, all we need to do is choose the data base which should be listed here with the domain name, username, and then something for the actual data base name so click on that. It will bring up a new screen. We simply need to go to import and once the import screen comes up we simply click on the browse button. We browse to that file and double click on it and then simply go, scroll this across you can actually see it this little button down here saying go.
So, I we click on that it is going to take a little while to run it depends on how big your database is or how big your blog is. It will take a little while to run so I am going to pause the video while that is running. Okay, so that is finished running now, it should say successfully finished. So, we can close down that window.
The next stage will be is going to change our name service so I will go to my particularly where my name is registered and log on to my account and then to show you how to change name servers. I will pause the video because I do not want seeing my password to all my domains. Okay, so once you logged in it always depends on the register you use. This is hwnick they are pretty cheap and very similar to such of the big names like go daddy and such alike. So, you need to go to manage domains and then choose the particular domain that you are changing the name service for. The manage domains interface looks something like this. Obviously, I am just using this to hide my domain names. Type in the domain name that you want to or just choose it from the list if you do not have that got many object on go so again I am just going to pause the video while I am at it.
Okay, we are in to the set up of the actual domain put five on that. These are the current name servers here to bring up the name server change screen, I will do that. And, once the screen comes up just paste in whatever the name service are for your particular hosting and then scroll across and you click on and you fully have to confirm the second time as well normally here we go, click on okay again. That is the name service updated.
Okay, they may not appear immediately so may need to refresh the plans before you see him here. Now, the thing to remember with name service is we change on a hosting but they may not propagate across the internet so that the internet may not know that we can move the domain just yet, so it might take a little while. All that I am going to do is go back and check the domain itself and have a look. Here we are back on the domain, if I actually hit refresh we can see whether if the name service is updated yet. As it may take a while it maybe that you have to wait half an hour or hour before this changes and you see the theme that we got have installed on here and things like that.
So, I am going to pause this video and come back a little while once the names are updated. Okay, my name service have finally updated that took about 20 minutes or so. It can take a while and you may need to actually close down you account and reopen it to get rid of the cash. The temporary internet files are stored locally in order to get the new one to show up. If I bring up my other browser here you will see it is defaulted back to the normal theme. So, the links have changed and it is now on the new hosts and all I need to do now is go in and actually update and change the team to whatever I want put a new header etc. So basically go back and make sure all of your plug ins are all activated. Upload only the plug ins and themes that you normally use and get it back to normal so that is how to back up and restore a blog if we actually log in the site at the admin area, here you can see all my posts are there. So, the blog is restored, we have a new blog or an old blog on a new host, okay.
As I mentioned earlier, there are steps to follow here. First one was backing up the database using the word press backup plug in and said you can get that from world press .org or just go this bill here and if you go directly to there, you can download it from there. Once we have backed up the database to a local hard disc we can then add the domain to a new hosting and the new word press blog using fantastic O then we use PHP in my admin in my sequel to via C-panel to restore the database then we change the name service and wait while it resolve and then we check a new blog once it is up and running. And use themes and plug ins back in to make sure they are all are running properly. Only then would we delete the domain from the old hosting. Do not get rid of that until you are absolutely happy that it has all come across correctly. Because, if you need to you can always go back to the old host just by changing the name service back and everything will still be there.
Okay, so do not get rid of it until you are happy. Okay, blogtactics.com, we have a lot of different videos helping you to use your word press blog to get it set up, optimize, and make the most out of it. Make sure that you come in and see those videos. There is also some quite few useful on mat4.com videos as well. Thank you very much.
