Speaker: A Sugar Cookie recipe is a must have during the holiday season. Pre heat the oven to 375 degrees. In a large mixer bowl beat together one cup of softened butter, one and a half cups of confectioner’s sugar, two tea spoons of vanilla extracts, half a tea spoon of almond extract, and an egg until well mixed.
In a second medium bowl whisk together three cups of all purpose flour, one tea spoon of baking soda and one tea spoon of cream of tartar, a quarter tea spoon of salt. Stir just to combine. Divide the dough in half, cover and refrigerate for half an hour. On a lightly floured surface, roll the dough to a quarter inch thickness. Get cookie cutters into flours and cut the dough into desired shapes.
Place them on lightly greased or parchment paper lined baking sheets. Separate them by about an inch. Next, sprinkle the shapes with granulated or colored sugar, then bake at 375 degrees for 7 to 8 minutes until the edges are light brown. Remove the cookies from baking sheets and cool it on wire racks.
This recipe makes about 4 to 5 dozen cookies. These sugar cookies are a great gift when they are all dressed up for the holidays.
