How to Be Single in Australia Part 1/6

Liz Tuccillo: My name is Liz Tuccillo. And I was a writer on Sex in the City and co author of He’s Just Not That Into You. You would think I was a dating expert yet single life’s still baffled me. So I decided to travel the world and see how people all over were managing their single lives. So I’m from New York and the main complaint you hear from single women in New York City is that there are not enough good men to go around. I mean I know personally so many gorgeous, beautiful, smart, fun, kind, single women and just not enough men to go around for them. But here in Sydney, it’s an actual statistic. They actually have proof. They actually have a word for it. They are saying they are going through a man drought. It’s a national emergency. There’s just literally one single man to five single women. I’m going to talk to the women. I’m going to the man. I’m going to talk to the person that started this term ‘man drought’ and I’m going to get to the bottom of it because you know what if they are managing, if they are coping maybe we could figure it out too. But first of all I wanted to find out if there really was a man drought. Sometimes statistics don’t give an accurate picture of what’s really going on. Female: There certainly is man drought. Liz Tuccillo: Okay. Female: Absolutely. Liz Tuccillo: Then what do you think about that? What do you mean? Female: All the married men—all the good men are married. Liz Tuccillo: All the good men are married. Female: Absolutely drought. Liz Tuccillo: Drought. Female: It’s not drums yes. Liz Tuccillo: Okay and it’s not just you have bad attitude, you’re not being optimistic and you don’t listen to yourself. Female: Not. Liz Tuccillo: It’s that there truly is a man drought. I think they can have to move — Female: Whenever I find an attractive guy who is my age you look down their finger and they are always married. Liz Tuccillo: So a lot of the good men are married. Liz Tuccillo: So where are they? Female: Married Female: Married. Female: Married. Female: Married. Female: Married Female: Okay. Male: The husbands will try to import applicants for the campaign from this Australian Continent. Liz Tuccillo: Yes. Male: Is to be found in the Sydney suburb of Surrey Hills. Liz Tuccillo: I’ve seen a few. Female; The ones who want a guy are usually are married or cheating on their wives or too much with baggage. Female: It’s not that there is tons of women available but I think that there are a lot of beautiful man out there. Liz Tuccillo: In Sydney. Female: No, not Sydney.
