How to Be Single in China Part 1/8

Liz Tuccillo: My name is Liz Tuccillo and I was a writer on “Sex in the City” and co-author of “He’s Just Not That into you”. You would think I was a dating expert. Get single life still battled men. So I decided to travel the world and see how people all over were managing their single lives. I decided to come to Beijing for one reason and one reason only. I heard that this is one of the only countries in the entire world where there were tons more available men than women. I know Chinese about to become this big super power that they’re becoming an incredible force on the global market but really all I was coming here to do was to see lots and lots of lonely man who couldn’t find the data on a Saturday night. That’s what I wanted to say. I wanted to see a lot of women who had lots of options and who were not saying, “Oh, my God. There are no good men left.” That is why I’m here. Anson: It’s the other way around. It’s so easy to find a girl here and to find a lady and girlfriend or date is so easy. No problem at all. Liz Tuccillo: That you’re all so lonely and you’re so worried and you’re so sad and it’s big party for the ladies. Not true, that there are tons of men for you. There are enough women to go around. Male: There are a lot of women. Liz Tuccillo: You have dates every Friday and Saturday night. Henry: Most of the time whenever I want, yeah. Male: I couldn’t add out there. Liz Tuccillo: Really. Male: Online, you know. Liz Tuccillo: Okay. Male: Single out with male looking for single out for female etcetera, etcetera. I got 67 or plus within the first 48 hours. Liz Tuccillo: There’s not like tons and tons of men and not enough and what’s the truth? Female: There are tons of men but no one that fits into your life. Liz Tuccillo: No one that can work? Is it because you’re too picky? Female: No, it’s not. Female: No, because the good ones are taken. Liz Tuccillo: The good ones are taken. All the way around the world to hear that the good men are taken. So apparently I was completely wrong. The men here seem to be having a fine time, dates all the time. Dates Mahoney in fact and the women seem a little cranky. I’m not going to lie. So I’m here I’ve done it all wrong. I think the statistics were more about maybe what’s going on in the rural country sides and not here. So I was wrong. But now that I’m here I might as well get to the bottom of what’s it’s really like to be single in Beijing.
