Liz: My name is Liz Tuccillo and I was a writer on “Sex and the City” and co-author of “He’s just not that into you”. You would think I was a dating expert yet single life still baffled so I’ve decided to travel the world and see how people all over were managing their single lives.
My first impression of Denmark and Copenhagen is that it’s efficient and people know how to do things really well and they have an amazing sense of design.
First of all, the bike path. This is a bike path, it’s got a curve. Even how they design their sandwich, the most popular one is open face so it’s basically half the carbs, double the fun.
They even have an amusement park in the middle of the City, Tivoli Gardens. So I wondered why the city is so known for their design. I wondered how good they were at designing their love lives.
Is it safe to say that the Danish people are incredibly organized?
Male: Yes. We have free schools, free universities and very well organized.
Liz: Do you agree that Danish people are very, very organized? Would you agree to that that the Danish government is very organized?
Female: I think Denmark is one of the most organized societies actually.
Liz: Do you pride yourself on being organized or organized people?
Female: Yeah.
Liz: You do?
Female: Yes.
Liz: Okay. It’s clear.
So you would say that Danish people are used to always being taken care of by their government?
Male: Yeah.
Liz: So it would make sense that internet dating is the efficient way where in some sense, this other organization is taking care of your love life?
Male: Yeah.
Liz: I am here with Morten Wagner who is the owner of Dating.dk which is the most popular dating site in Denmark. When have you started and what made you decide to start it?
Male: I’ve studied in the United States government and I got a little bored and I thought I wanted to make something which is more fun. Girls have quite a lot of interest to me so I wanted to put it into a system and that’s what we did with the homepage.
Liz: So you wanted to basically organize your love life.
Male: Mine, it never it is.
Liz: So what else were these efficient Danes doing to organize their love lives?
