Liz: What is a running dinner?
Female: It’s like people who meet up for meals in private homes and it’s all single people and you have eight person with each place. They have to start in one plot or one house and then they have a main course in another house and they have dinner in another house. In all three places, they meet three new couples.
Liz: So one woman, she gets matched up with one man?
Female: Yeah.
Liz: It’s like a route?
Female: Yeah.
Liz: So then what happens?
Female: Example, if she’s the person who’s going to eat at her place, then they can make the starter. Her and her date make a starter.
Liz: They cook together?
Female: Yeah.
Liz: Which is very stressful for a couple.
Female: Yeah.
Liz: How many people come over?
Female: Three other couples so six persons.
Liz: Six people come over and they all eat together.
Female: And then they all go to four different places.
Liz: But she always stays with her date?
Female: With her date, yeah.
Liz: So then she goes to another location for the main course.
Female: Exactly. In the main course, you have two couples preparing the main course.
Liz: Two couples cooking the main course and then another couple comes.
Female: Two other couples come.
Liz: So it’s eight.
Female: Yeah. Always eight. Then, she goes with her date to another location with the food.
Liz: And in each location, you are able to be meeting other single people?
Female: Exactly, yeah. So the girls meet nine boys and the boys meet nine girls.
Liz: In a night?
Female: And at the party, you can meet at least a hundred or a hundred and fifty.
Liz: Because then, they all meet up at a party.
Female: Yeah.
Liz: I’m here with Katrina Benson. She’s about to go on the running dinner. She’s so generous to allow us into her home right before she goes to the first course which she is cooking with her date. And what’s his name?
Katrina: His name is Jonathan but we’re actually cooking the desert.
Liz: What are you having for desert?
Katrina: He has arranged some kind of vanilla ice cream, pineapple with mint flakes. I have no clue.
Liz: So he’s not letting you…
Katrina: He’s not letting me decide anything. I brought the wine. I don’t know, it’s either good or bad.
Liz: What’s your instinct so far because you keep doing a lot.
Katrina: I think he likes to be in control.
Liz: Do you know of these running dinners?
Female: Yes.
Liz: What do you think of them?
Female: I think it’s a great idea. I think it’s like 6% who meet each other anyway. But I like this, that you meet and you have a party and it doesn’t matter if it’s only 6% who meets. It’s like—it’s a party.
[Phone Ringing]
Liz: Is that him?
Katrina: Yeah.
Liz: He said he was going to be five minute late.
Katrina: Because he was stressing around and…
Liz: Because he was stressing around the dessert? Okay.
While Katrina went off to her running dinner, I decided to kill some time and do a little research on Danish men.
