Rhiannon Ally: Welcome back to our hot topic segment, earlier in the show we showed how to make over your money. We have author Marianna Olszewski the author of "Live It, Love It, Earn It" she stuck around to give us some more valuable tips for her book. Thank you for sticking around.
Marianna Olszewski: Thanks for having me.
Rhiannon Ally: Okay, so I love your book it's got a lot of great information for women out there, it's time to take control, right. Why do so many women put finances just kind of in the back burner?
Marianna Olszewski: Well, I think we don't really want to deal with, they were anxious about a little bit it's better to just have our head in the sand and let her husband do it, or boy friend do it, or parents do it. Or some of us think and I have always thought this, why don't I just you know work for five years and then Prince Charming will come and save me, really.
Rhiannon Ally: Not a good way to think, right?
Marianna Olszewski: But we always we have that it's natural, it's normal and we have to you know respect that we have that type of thinking and I don't know where it's from it's society and what we can do instead you say you know what if Prince Charming comes that's wonderful my parents want to help me, that's great but I going to try to do it myself, follow my dream, take care of money and do what I want to do with my life and that's what the book is about.
Rhiannon Ally: And you make it really easy for women because you actually, always been in finance you are on wall street.
Marianna Olszewski: Yes.
Rhiannon Ally: For a long time and now your are you wrote this book giving other women great information. It's not as easy for people at home to make these changes, but what can they do to kind ease into a little bit?
Marianna Olszewski: Well, the first thing you need to do is really on - like I said before is really get to know where your money is coming and going.
Rhiannon Ally: That's like the key thing.
Marianna Olszewski: The key thing is to have a relationship with your money, so for instance if your are dating a guy or you have a husband. If you don't get to know your husband or the guy you are dating you know you are going to have a terrible relationship.
Rhiannon Ally: So stop being and denial is the key thing.
Marianna Olszewski: Stop being and denial get your head out of this sand like just take responsibility for and once you do the anxiety around money will left. And getting back to what you said very quickly is that I really don't come from a lot of money I didn't have any money growing up I come from a very modest background and I decided to follow my dream go into Wall Street and create a business that actually become a multi-million dollar business. So for all you moms out their, I am mom also or anyone who thinks they can't do it you can do it you just have to follow.
Rhiannon Ally: How did you do it?
Marianna Olszewski: Well I followed my intuition, my intuition was I love finance, I love money, I love - like it was very easy for me. I went to college and it was economics was very easy, I always want to go to Wall Street and I was working in accounting which I did not like. So, I decided one day when I was going over the George Washington Bridge and my clunker Junker car, 24 years old it broke down and I said to myself I don't want this life anymore I don't want to live pay check to pay check, I don't want to have this threat full job that I can stand going to, I want to do what I want to do and what I did was I quit the job went to Wall Street and then started my own business two years later which become a multi-million dollar business. Because I followed my instincts and that's what live it, love it, earn it is about following your instincts and stopping the struggle around money.
Rhiannon Ally: And it's not just about money for you, you actually created a vision board that help lead to your husband.
Marianna Olszewski: Yes, oh I love that. The vision pointing a lot of people that I coach use this technique it's a board about this bigger cork board and what you do is you go through magazines and you think about what ever pulls you and for instance I wanted a business.
Rhiannon Ally: Things you want in your life.
Marianna Olszewski: Things you want in your life, anything that you want in your life and you rip out whatever pulls you not what you think you want to have but the house that you thinking you like the - you know what ever it is you want to fly business class rep that out, you want you know work on a computer and have on office and walk as early like I did all of that type of stuff. So whatever you want in I wanted a husband at 39 years old, so I wiped out pictures of husbands and in nine months I did get a husband and I did get marry and I do have a business that's becomes successful, so everything you want you can do with the vision board.
Rhiannon Ally: Marianna thank you so much. I hope we have inspired a lot of women out there to make some changes and again you can pick up her book "Live It, Love It, Earn It" its available now. We will be right back.
