Veronica: Many people want to become a model because it’s glamorous and sexy. However, it’s also very competitive.
Female: I did some testing before so you just get experience in and less—this cool. You meet a lot of people and you can see we watch each other.
Veronica: Hi, I'm Veronica at Watchmojo.com and today we’re speaking with the judge to find out what it takes to be a model.
Well, life of the runway model can be glamorous, exciting and sexy. But it can also be a very competitive line of work. As anyone knows, first impressions are big deal and that’s why designers look for a model with a walk that it suits confidence and grabs the attention of the audience.
Chantal Durivage: They have 30 seconds to prove themselves, so it’s very important to crunch pretty hardly. They need to have an attitude. They have to take their run away.
Veronica: Besides the way attitude, this woman needs to have the right shape and walk-to-walk. They need to be able to move in a fluent motion and be a size that will fit in the ready to wear runway cloths. Most importantly is the personality of each model. Each designers looking for a certain look all depending on their collection.
Chantal Durivage: Each designer is asking for a different attitude. So if the collection is more commercial, it’s more smiling, you know, if it’s a collection more edgy you need to be very strong woman and its depends on the collection.
Veronica: This is one reason that model should continue even after not making the cut after a casting. Models what do experience don’t necessarily have an advantage over those new to the fashion world. The fashion industry is always looking for a new faces.
Chantal Durivage: We always need some new faces because a career of model is pretty short and the new faces are very, very, very interesting also because there is this little shy attitude that is very, very interesting on the runway too, so we need them, we need all of new faces.
Veronica: If you're interested in hitting the catwalk be sure to be well prepared for you next casting until that your personality shine through.
Chantal Durivage: Be patient, practice in front of the mirror, look at the runways at fashion television and look at the attitude. Understand what the designers are doing, feel the clothing because this is the purpose of what you're doing. And go, go, go!
