Reana Morgan: Hi! I’m Reana Morgan with ihealthtube and I’m speaking with Lyle Hurd who is the publisher and editor of Total Health Magazine, which has distributed nationally and it has a lot of information for us to educate ourselves on the kind of nutrition which should be taking in. And that is time for what we going to be speaking about right now is becoming a student of your health. How would you address that Lyle?
Lyle Hurd: Well, let’s just say that the mission of Total Health Magazine is to help people understand the concept of self manage natural health. Now, what that basically means is that you need to take a position of being co-captain of your own health routine and that indicates couple of things. One is that you need to be a very important aspect of the person in the doctor’s office.
Reana Morgan: Okay!
Lyle Hurd: You need to be completely aware of as much as you can, until the corps that maybe especially as you get older happening in your body. That mean you need to be able to ask questions that you know would never get answered unless you ask them that no one else is going to ask.
You need to question why someone would give you a drug if they’re going to prescribe a drug with the potential adverse effects are. And on the other side you need to understand a couple of things. You need to understand about diet, you need to understand about nutritional supplementation which we really want to talk about.
Reana Morgan: All right!
Lyle Hurd: You need to know that exercise is a big part of it. You need to know that your attitude in which you get back to the community and spirituality all parts of it. But I think that the one part that you really can control is learning about which your body needs as far nutritional supplementation is concerned.
Reana Morgan: Well, for example, I was in the supermarket the other day and they have a multivitamin discounted for $5.00 bottle. So people were running up to buy that, is that a good deal. I mean, you know? You can get price sake.
Lyle Hurd: I will bet if you look at the multivitamin there were 30 ingredients in there.
Reana Morgan: Oh, there was longer stress?
Lyle Hurd: Yeah! And if so, let say that is for $5.00 and obviously it’s something that they bought in quantity or it was being discontinued, or whatever the situation might be but let’s say that’s the third of it would have cost you $15.00 which have been $50.00, I’m just giving 50 cents a day.
Reana Morgan: Okay!
Lyle Hurd: If you look at the economics that means that if it’s marked up six times, you’re getting approximately eight cents worth of ingredient a day in that pill that you’re taking. I think that people need to as I say becomes to the several long health. I think that people need to read as much as they can about what kind of ingredients they need.
And then I think they need to understand how much of those ingredients they might need. I might also say that you probably want to find a daily vitamin that doesn’t have everything in it to the degree that you may need for individual ingredients. It can have a lot of ingredients in it and it can have some opportunity to know but you need to know what you need to be taking more of on a regular basis.
So $5.00 and 95 cents or $5.00 it’s a real deal. You’re going to find I think that there micrograms when you wanted milligrams then milligrams when you wanted grams, which all are measurements sort of the amount ingredient that there in the product.
Reana Morgan: So you’re not getting as much as it sounds like you get in—I mean if this is micromilligrams for example?
Lyle Hurd: Absolutely! You may not be getting as much as you need and you constantly need to be aware that we live in a society of a reactive healthcare. We lived in a society where people are diagnosing the disease that you have. They’re prescribing something for that disease and as even in the case of cancer the whole trend is to keep people alive longer as opposed to teach people what they might be able to do to avoid. I won’t say treat because I think treating cancer is something that has to be something you decide on with your doctor but basically you have to be your own self. You have to be wrong executor and you have to be the co-captain of your health routine.
Reana Morgan: So what you’re saying is that you really need to investigate and learn about ingredients and learn the amounts that you need to take to be a steward of your own health?
Lyle Hurd: And to be confident that the people that have produced the products that you’re using are people that you’d like to have your health put in their hands.
Reana Morgan: Okay! Well, thank you Lyle for that information.
Lyle Hurd: You’re welcome!
Reana Morgan: Thanks!
