Hi, I’m Steve Phillips host of Great Cocktails.
When I host a cocktail party I want to be calm, cool and collected, and I want everything to be seamless. Here are few tips that will make you the hit of your next cocktail party.
Craziest time in the party is when everyone arrives at ones. There are hundreds of hellos and intros. There are coats to handle and hats to hang up and drinks to dole out and this is definitely a job for two people.
And here is a little secret, if you live alone let’s get a friend to help, split up your responsibilities. One person should be the party ambassador, greet the guest and stall the coats, and direct the traffic flow. While the other person acts as fruit and beverage director making sure each guest has a fresh drink and it does always orders at the table.
Food is one of the most important things at any cocktail party you’re guest may not have time to catch dinner and it will prevent folks from getting a little tipsy. Cheese and veggies trays are always a hit but you can also pick up tasty ready to eat orders. My favorites are pastries filled with things like warm fruit or portabella mushrooms. Set out some warm meatballs, these are always a hit.
I was parch, you also want to keep your guest hydrated so have some bottle water set out with people can serve themselves. With these simple tricks of the trade, your next cocktail party will come off without a hitch.
