Good afternoon everyone. Nikki the Foodie here, and this weekend, we are preparing beer steam Maine lobster tails. And I already have all sides finished. Over here, I’ve made twice baked red potatoes. They’re already done and covered in paprika, so they’re ready to go. I have some bread here that’s got to go in the oven for a few minutes. And when we have that completed, we are going to steam our lobster tails over here. We have four six to seven ounce Maine lobster tails that we are going to go ahead and cook in electric steamer with a good bottle of Budweiser beer so it should be a great lunch.
I’m going to throw this right in the oven and then we will put the tails in the steamer. Back on for a while. Alright, we’ve got to fill them up right to about here, so let’s just make sure. Alright and that looks great. Pop the beer bottle there. We put the steamer tray on and there we go. Let me get the tails. These look so good. I’m excited about these. Alright, we’ve got one. I’m just going to ignore that. No one can interrupt me when I am cooking lobster. This is the most important thing right now.
Alright, we have our Maine tails placed in the steamer. We have our beer below it. We will put the steamer top on and set this for 20 minutes. I’m setting it for 20 minutes juts to be sure that they’re cooked all the way through. Now the real thing that you have to pay attention to when you’re cooking lobster is the doneness of the meat.
As you can see it when they’re raw, the Maine lobster tails are kind of translucent and grayish. When they’re completely cooked through, the shells will be red and the meat will be firm and white. And if it’s gray at all or clear at all, I’ll just keep steaming it at one minute interval until it’s done. So 20 minutes is the absolute max just to be on the safe side, but I’m definitely going to check for doneness as we go through this. So, we’ll check it back in about 10 minutes and we’ll see if we have lobster yet.
Unfortunately we did not have a lot of luck trying to use the electric steamer for the Maine tails. We waited for about 20 minuets and we’re not even getting steam, so I decided to skip because I’m hungry, and I would like to eat lobsters too. And we went through the old school style of the pot and steamer back. So I just turned it off a second ago. And we’re going to check out how the tails look, and those look awesome. I’ll flip this over and take a look at the doneness of them. Oh yeah, as you can see the shells are that nice, familiar red color that we all know and love. And the meat on the inside is really nice and firm and white. That is really great. And again, exactly what we’re looking for, nice firm, nice white, no translucent, no grayish and that fresh beer steam smell. That is absolutely delicious.
Alright, while we are just about to serve this, so once I get the table set, we will be back with a great shot of that.
Alright, we have our table set and we are almost ready for lunch. As you can see we have our beer steam Maine tails, and the steamer ready to go. We have our twice baked red potatoes. And we have some fresh French bagels. Over here we have our clarified butter and it’s definitely time to eat. I’m hungry so it’s lunchtime. Thanks for joining me. See you guys soon.
