Daria: All of you members of the dolans.com family know that if there's ever going to somebody with doom and gloom it’s always falling on this side of the table not that. So in light of the fact that you all think I depress the life out of you I want to start with you this time what’s a great thing to do right with your money. It’s a great one.
Ken: Can I give you one?
Daria: Yeah.
Ken: Buy a car. I'm going to tell you that we drive by dealerships that looks like there's thousands of cars there and there's awful lot of people who are obviously concern that in fact maybe the car that they're looking to buy may not be in business but there's plenty of other cars for sale so negotiate.
Daria: I made a joke of this back in December but it has come true “buy one get one free”.
Ken: One dealership has that.
Daria: No a few dealerships have it now.
Ken: Two good websites Edmunds.com and fightingchamps.com, very good websites to negotiate car.
Daria: Also now is the great time—you can't sell your house in this environment that’s what the world need another house in the inventory. No if you have the money to do it, it is a great time to remodel you know their thumbs. They have no work. Here’s your chance to put them to work and to bargain hard on things
Ken: Protecting the value of your biggest assets. Two good sources remodeling magazine and our friend Tom Kraeutler has a very good website called moneypit.com. Remodel don’t sell they’ll be a time to sell.
Daria: And on that houseline if you want to just boost up the interior by getting some new furniture because the springs in the sofa in the living are gone get some furniture now because you order it today it’s there almost overnight.
Ken: As oppose to six to eight weeks. If your working and you haven’t had a pink slip good news, however, even if you have what you want to do is absolutely increase your job skills. The idea of getting paid nowadays is one paycheck for one job is gone. You’ve got to have more skills than that whether you're changing career because you’ve been laid off or still working. And sometimes your employer may pay part of that. Don’t be lazy increase your job skills it’s not going to be a great employment year either.
Daria: It’s also a great time right now to test the IRS. I don’t believe I just said that but I mean it. If you are one of the people that know you're not going to have enough to pay your taxes come April 15, so you want to log on irs.gov and click on “what if I can pay my taxes? And get some strategies for dealing with them so that you can set up some sort of plan to have them go easier on you.
Ken: And last but not the least President Obama our new president as you know has been talking about a lot of things about the least of which this energy prices and focusing on alternative energy. And as fuel prices continue to be skaterish see your tax repair for some of those energy upgrades, energy efficient deductions and tax credits that you can get. The price of energy is going to stay for over a long time.
Daria: And one last thing I want to sticking very quickly it is always a great time to start saving now.
