Hi! My name is Karen Fernandez, and I am just here to give you some tips today on how to break up, how to stay broken up and most important, how to be on your own.
So, if you are planning on breaking up, think about it. Don't be impulsive, this is a huge decision and you could be creating some major resentment and what could be a long lasting and healthy relationship.
Don't initiate the break up while you are in the midst of a fight. This is only going to create drama and make your partner think the reason you are breaking up is because of that silly fight you had an hour ago, about not doing the laundry.
Don't pick up your cellphone and scroll down your text messages every time you miss your ex. It's not going to help you at all. Don't call your voice mail and listen to their messages, when you want to hear their voice because they are gone.
This is what you have been doing, sleeping in your bed, thinking about your past. It's not going to get you anywhere. Get out of your room, get out in the world and stop thinking about your break up.
Get busy, don't be lazy. Do all the things that you have been putting off. You know that book you have meaning to read for the past six months, that clothes that you have been meaning to clean. Visit your parents, hang out with your little brother, start that project you have been talking about. Get out and get some fresh air.
So you want to know how to be on your own, you don't have to be. Go out, make fun, new ones, old ones. Get familiar with the people you have been meeting and they will really got to know. See, you really want to stay broken up with your ex, then stop trying to be best friends with them too quickly.
Build a distance between yourself. Make your own space. If there is one thing I learned from my relationship, it's not to hate, let's the past go, remember what you have learned from it but don't dwell on it.
