Hello! This is Dan Franklin from HopTech Homebrewing Supplies in Dublin, California. I’m showing you today on how to brew your own beer at home.
Well we’ve come to the end. A quick overview of what we’ve done. We have cooked our beer, we’ve chilled our beer, we’ve racked our beer, we’ve fermented it, and now, we bottled it. And now it’s been two weeks since we last talked to each other. And now it’s time for the big moment, is to drink the beer and see how it came out.
That’s been in my fridge. I put in this morning so it’s nice and chilled. The way this goes is you usually take one or two beers after a couple of weeks of carbonation. Stick one in the fridge, pull it out, open it if it has the carbonation you like and then taste, you are done.
So let’s go grab the beer out of the fridge, we have a nice beer here. I prefer drinking my beer instead of out of the bottle into a glass. I’ll pull up my bottle opener. It really gets a nice fizz. Nice sting coming up as I call it but it looks good, smells good, let’s give it a pour and see what it look like.
Oh yeah very clear. A little more amber for a lager-like, it’s got some color to it. Got some really nice carbonation, some nice bubbles, kind of pour it kind of faster so we’re going to let it settle for a second and you can see the nice, the fine bubbles. This did really well carbonate it. Your head got some good head. That has to do with the barley we put in there to give a little extra head retention. Some people choose not to add that.
So let it simmer down a little bit. Cheers men! We have ourselves a nice beer. Very good, it has got a nice beer flavor, some decent color, good carbonation. I’d say we are very successful. So once again, very simple, it’s a great thing. If you could cook, you can make beer. The whole process of making beer is approximately three weeks from the time to start. There’s nothing wrong with taking your beer and aging it as well, it taste very good, and it’s called bottled conditioning smoothing out. This is a great hobby. A reasonably priced hobby and once again, thank you very much and cheers!
